Many parents attach great importance to the physical health of their children. Even if there are some minor problems, they should be taken seriously and feel very nervous. Especially when they find small white patches on their children's faces, they will be more worried and afraid that this situation will affect the baby's skin surface. In fact, many children can recover on their own after this situation and do not need to take any medication. What are the characteristics of white spots White spots caused by various reasons have different characteristics. First of all, according to the color of white spots, they can be divided into hypopigmented spots and pure pigmented spots. The color of hypopigmented spots is lighter than normal skin color, but it will not turn into porcelain white. These white spots are mainly seen in some congenital leukoplakia and simple pityriasis versicolor, tinea versicolor, solar leukoplakia, etc. Depigmented spots refer to white spots that are pure white or porcelain white in color. They are mainly seen in vitiligo and some inflammatory skin diseases that cause severe damage to melanocytes, such as white atrophy and lupus erythematosus. Secondly, the skin texture of different white spots also has its own characteristics. Some white spots have varying degrees of scales attached to the skin, such as pityriasis simplex and tinea versicolor; some white spots have skin atrophy, such as post-ulcer depigmentation and discoid lupus erythematosus; some white spots have dry skin, no sweat, and no hair, such as leprosy white spots; in addition, the edges of different white spots also have their own characteristics. Some white spots have clear borders and may have darker pigmentation around them, such as white atrophy and discoid lupus erythematosus; some white spots have blurred borders and are generally hypopigmented spots. Neurochemical Factor Theory Many clinical observations have shown that psychoneurological factors are closely related to the occurrence of vitiligo. The mental, nervous and endocrine systems are a unified whole. Mental factors lead to stress in the body, which increases the levels of neuroendocrine hormones and neurotransmitters. However, mental factors focus on subjective aspects, while neuroendocrine system is a measurable indicator and is more objective. In addition, due to the intrinsic connection between the nervous and immune systems, neural factors may affect melanocytes through the immune system. Melanocyte self-destruction The basic pathology of vitiligo is the partial or complete loss of function of epidermal melanocytes. Vitiligo expert Qi Shujun proposed the theory of melanocyte self-destruction, believing that the disease is prone to occur in exposed and pigmented areas, and that the hyperfunction of epidermal melanocytes promotes their consumption and early decline, and may be caused by the accumulation of toxic melanin precursors synthesized by the cells themselves. However, such substances could not be detected in white spot skin. Experimental studies have shown that certain chemicals have a selective destructive effect on melanocytes, causing skin depigmentation. The earliest report was of hydroquinone monophenyl ether (a substituted phenol), which is often used as an antioxidant in rubber protective gloves. Workers exposed to it can cause depigmentation of the skin of the hands and upper limbs. |
