What are the causes of cerebral atrophy in children?

Infantile brain atrophy is also known as spinocerebellar atrophy in medicine. It is generally a familial genetic disease. If one of the parents suffers from this symptom, then the children are 50% likely to suffer from the disease. They walk in a wobbly manner, like penguins, and thus have an interesting nickname called the "Penguin Family." So, next, let’s take a look at the causes of cerebral atrophy in children.

Cerebellar atrophy belongs to the category of "paralysis syndrome" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is a syndrome of deficiency of the body's vital energy and excess of pathogenic factors. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, it is often attributed to kidney deficiency. The kidneys store essence, control bones, produce marrow, and connect to the brain. If the kidneys are deficient, the brain marrow will not be filled, the tendons and bones will not be nourished, and the bones will shake and the limbs will tremble. Genetic factors (85%):

The cause of this disease is unknown, but most cases have a familial genetic tendency. Those who develop the disease before the age of 20 are mostly autosomal recessive, while those who develop the disease after the age of 20 are mostly autosomal dominant. After long-term research, many scholars at home and abroad have located the Friedreich ataxia defect gene at 9q13~q21 and the OPCA genetic gene at 6p24~p23. It was also found to be related to many factors such as viral infection, immune deficiency, biochemical enzyme deficiency and abnormal DNA repair function, but its exact cause is still not very clear.

pathology:

Pathologically, the manifestations are varied. The most common ones include atrophy and degeneration of nerve cells, loss of myelin, and mild proliferation of glial cells, resulting in extensive degeneration of the cerebellar hemispheres, vermis, and middle and inferior cerebellar peduncles, and disappearance of Purkinje cells; atrophy or disappearance of nerve cells in the posterior columns and Clarke columns of the spinal cord, followed by proliferation of glial cells, degeneration of the posterior roots and spinal ganglia, and loss of myelin, which is particularly evident in the lumbar and sacral spinal cord.

The above are the causes of brain atrophy in children. In fact, cerebral atrophy in children is very scary, but if it is adjusted and prevented, there is a chance that it can be controlled. Everyone should maintain an optimistic and happy mood, and not be too anxious or impatient. For the elderly over 50 years old, you can use medicine to regulate your body. You must also clearly know why you suffer from this disease and then take the right medicine.
