What to do if your child has convulsions

The symptom of childhood convulsions is quite common. When this symptom occurs, many parents are at a loss and don’t know what to do. First of all, they need to find out the cause of this symptom. Most of them are high fever convulsions. This symptom is easy to occur because the child’s body temperature suddenly rises, or the child is under high temperature for a long time. When a child has a convulsion, parents should not panic but take appropriate treatment measures.

1. Place your baby on his side:

When your baby has a high fever convulsion, do not let him lie flat. Try to let him lie on his side with his face facing sideways. Lift the baby's chin to help the baby breathe smoothly, check whether there is food in the baby's mouth to prevent the baby from choking.

2. Do not shake the baby:

After the baby has a high fever and convulsions, parents must not panic blindly, shake the baby hard to try to wake the baby up, or shout the baby's name loudly to further scare the baby, so as to avoid irritating the baby.

3. Loosen your baby's clothes:

After the baby has a convulsion, parents should loosen the baby's clothes in time. Do not let the clothes be wrapped too tightly around the body. Too many clothes will make it difficult for the child to breathe. Unbuttoning the clothes not only allows the person to breathe more easily, but also helps the person relax his whole body.

4. Don’t put foreign objects in your child’s mouth:

If the baby has a convulsion caused by a high fever, he will not bite his tongue like he does in an epileptic seizure, so parents should not worry too much about the baby biting his tongue after a convulsion. Parents should not put their fingers, chopsticks, spoons or other foreign objects into the baby's mouth to prevent the baby from biting his tongue. This is more dangerous.

5. Seek medical attention promptly:

High fever convulsions do not mean that the baby has a serious illness, but it does not mean that high fever convulsions are not dangerous to the baby. Therefore, when the baby shows the above symptoms, take the baby to the doctor immediately.

6. Remember the symptoms of baby convulsions:

When taking your baby to see a doctor, tell the doctor in detail the convulsion symptoms after the baby's seizure to help the doctor determine the baby's condition. After the baby's convulsions return to normal, you should also observe the baby's mental state, physical reactions, etc.
