Are rectal polyps the only treatment options available? Many parents of pediatric patients have this question. Especially now, more and more children are suffering from rectal polyps. So when encountering such a problem, what is the best way to treat it? So let’s take a look today at some methods for treating rectal polyps in children. Rectal polyp is a neoplasm of rectal nuclear membrane hyperplasia and is a common hemorrhagic disease in clinical practice. Modern medicine has not yet clearly identified the true cause of rectal polyps. It may be related to chronic irritation, or stimulation from intestinal diseases such as dysentery, ulcerative colitis, schistosomiasis, enterobiasis, chronic constipation, dry stools, genetics and other factors. There are several main treatment methods for rectal polyps. 1. For cases with multiple polyps or severe clinical symptoms, in addition to antibiotics, supportive symptomatic treatment should be strengthened. 2. For cases with single or small polyps, antibiotics, metronidazole and other auxiliary drugs are mainly used. Electrocautery: electrocautery to remove polyps under direct colonoscopy Suitable for small, high- or low-positioned, broad-based polyps. Find the polyps under anoscopy or colonoscopy, and use an electrocautery or high-frequency electrocoagulation device to cauterize the base of the polyp. For sessile polyps, the central part can be cauterized, but it is not advisable to burn too deeply to avoid damaging the intestinal wall. Rest in bed after the operation and have a follow-up check one week later. If the wound is not completely detached, electrocautery can be performed again. Traditional excision method: Polyps with thick pedicles or wide bases can be removed surgically under saddle anesthesia For low-positioned, large, broad-based polyps suspected of being cancerous and papillary polyps, local excision and suture or posterior rectal polypectomy can be performed. Therefore, parents should pay attention to the different causes or symptoms, and it would be better to use different treatment methods. In this way, the treatment results for the child will be better, and it can greatly reduce the pain and discomfort caused by delayed treatment. Parents must also pay attention to their children's diet problems. |
