The child's face turned blue

Babies' faces are usually red and look very cute. If there is a problem with the child's physical health, the child's complexion is likely to become abnormal. Some parents find that their babies have a blue face, which not only makes them look weak, but also greatly affects their health and growth and development. So, what is going on when the child’s face turns blue?

What is the reason for the baby's face turning blue?

There are not many reasons why a baby's face turns blue, but most of them are serious.

1. If the baby's face usually has a bluish purple color, the new mother needs to pay attention to whether the baby has congenital heart disease.

2. Sudden airway obstruction is also one of the reasons why the baby’s face turns blue. Irregular eating habits may cause this condition.

3. Certain anemias, such as iron deficiency anemia or thalassemia, may cause the baby's face to turn blue. In addition, some food or drug poisoning may also cause the baby's face to turn blue.

Nursing plan

First of all, in order to avoid human factors blocking the baby's respiratory tract, you should carefully watch the baby when he or she is eating, educate the baby to eat quietly, and cultivate the habit of chewing slowly. At the same time, be careful not to let your baby play with pins, coins, small balls, buttons and other items. Do not feed whole beans, peanuts, melon seeds, or other foods that are difficult to chew.

Secondly, after similar symptoms appear, it is recommended to send the baby to the hospital for a routine blood test. If anemia is present, blood should be drawn to check serum iron to rule out iron deficiency anemia, and hemoglobin electrophoresis should be done to rule out thalassemia. After excluding anemia, a cardiac ultrasound is needed to rule out congenital heart disease.

Finally, based on the results of the hospital's examination, take good care of your baby's body, such as supplementing nutrition, exercising, etc. Babies who are still breastfeeding can take appropriate nutritional supplements as prescribed by the doctor; babies who have already started eating complementary foods should receive targeted supplements based on actual conditions.
