What is the best age for babies to learn to write?

As babies grow up, they will gradually have a certain understanding of the things around them and need to learn a variety of knowledge. The most critical step is learning to write. Of course, it is not the case that the earlier a baby learns to write, the better, because when a child is too young, his bones are not fully developed, which is not conducive to writing. Once the child goes to primary school, that is, after the age of six, he can learn to write very well.

1. At what age is it best for babies to learn to write?

Today’s parents are afraid that their children will lose at the starting line. In order to let their children “lead” their peers, many parents start teaching their children to write early on. In fact, learning to write is a gradual process that requires the child's physical and cognitive abilities to develop to a certain level.

Children over 6 years old are suitable for learning to write, which is determined by the development of children's hand joints, muscles and nerves.

90% of children aged 2 to 4 are in the state of scribbling; 95% of children aged 5 can copy and draw accurately, but 75% of them cannot write simple Chinese characters (such as kou and bai) stably with the correct stroke order and posture; children over 6 years old can basically write simple Chinese characters accurately with the correct posture and stroke order. Therefore, writing is basically something that children learn after they enter elementary school, and it is not appropriate to encourage it in their early childhood.

2. Basic conditions for children to learn to write

1. The fingers and wrist muscles can move freely. Through the exercises of doodling, painting, and drawing straight lines and curves, one can accurately and powerfully control the movements of the finger and wrist muscles.

2. Strong visual distinction ability. When learning to write, one should be able to accurately distinguish the subtle differences between similar characters such as 大, 太, 犬, 田, 由, 甲, etc., so that one will not miss a stroke when writing.

3. Accurate concept of spatial position. You need to be clear about the relative positions of up and down, left and right, front and back, so that you can write characters with correct strokes, reasonable proportions and complete structure.

3. Notes

After the child starts learning to write, parents can evaluate and correct his handwriting every day, affirming which words are written well and pointing out which words need attention. Focus on praising children and let them gain successful and pleasant experiences in writing, so that they will learn to write more consciously and voluntarily.
