In real life, children's skin is relatively delicate. If exposed to external stimuli or physical problems, it will easily cause pimples on the skin. Pimples on children's eyelids are a very common symptom. This may be caused by stye. Chronic granuloma can also easily cause pimples on children's eyelids. What causes small pimples on children's eyelids? This thing that grows on the eyelid is called a stye. There are two kinds of glands in the eyelid. The sebaceous glands at the root of the eyelashes open into the hair follicles. The meibomian glands are buried near the conjunctiva and in the tarsal plate, and open into the eyelid margin. Stye is an acute suppurative inflammation of these two glands. Stye classification There are two types of styes, namely internal styes and external styes. External stye is an acute inflammation of the sebaceous glands or hair follicles at the base of the eyelashes. It manifests as local redness and swelling of the eyelids, small nodules, and conscious pain and tenderness. After a few days, pus will appear at the root of the hair follicle, which will be drained by incision or will burst and discharge pus on its own. The symptoms will quickly disappear and the patient will recover. Internal hordeolum is an acute inflammation of the facial gland inside the eyelid. Its symptoms are the same as those of external hordeolum, but because the inflammation is in the firmer facial tissue, the pain is more severe and the inflammation lasts longer. In severe cases, the entire eyelid is red and swollen, and the preauricular lymph nodes on the affected side are swollen and tender. After a few days, pus will appear in the eyelids. After the pus is drained, the eye will heal and the symptoms will disappear. Stye in children Home care knowledge 1. Apply hot compress before the pus is formed to promote suppuration. Mild inflammation can also disappear completely after hot compress. Systemic and local use of antibiotics can also promote the disappearance of inflammation. Antibiotics can be taken orally, injected intramuscularly or intravenously, and they are very effective against pyogenic bacteria. 2. Once pus head appears, it should be cut open and drained in time, and do not wait until it breaks on its own. This can reduce the pain of the sick child and shorten the course of treatment. 3. When pus heads appear, do not squeeze them with your hands, because the eyelids are rich in blood vessels, the ocular veins are connected to the veins in the orbit, and to the cavernous sinus in the skull, and the ophthalmic veins have no venous valves, so blood can flow back in all directions. Squeezing them can spread the inflammation and cause serious complications, such as orbital cellulitis, cavernous sinus thrombosis, and even sepsis, which can be life-threatening. 4. You can apply eye drops locally. Generally, 0.25% chloramphenicol eye drops are sufficient. If there is a lot of secretions, rifampicin eye drops will be more effective. Children can apply chloramphenicol eye ointment after falling asleep. 5. Do not rub your eyes with dirty hands to avoid bacteria entering the eyes and causing infection. |
