Can children drink honey water?

Children have always been a vulnerable group in people's eyes. Not only because of the disparity in strength between children and adults, but also because children have poor resistance to various external and internal influences. Therefore, as soon as a child is sick, the family will show extraordinary tension. And diet is something everyone comes into contact with every day. As the saying goes, misfortune comes from the mouth. Improper diet will also put children's health at risk.

Honey is very nutritious and its price is very expensive in the market. It is a favorite drink for soaking in water. But sometimes, adults prevent children from drinking honey. Why is that? Can children drink honey water?

Yes, but you must pay attention to hygiene, because honey is easily contaminated by this botulism. The spore wall is thick and not easy to penetrate water, but it is very heat-resistant and can withstand both high and low temperatures. It can even survive for 6 to 10 hours in boiling water. In other words, the usual steaming method cannot kill the botulism spores.

Adults have strong resistance, so the botulism spores in honey usually do not multiply and develop into botulism and "make trouble". However, infants under one year old have weak resistance. After eating honey contaminated with botulism, the spores can develop into botulism in the infant's body and produce botulinum exotoxin. After the infant is poisoned, symptoms such as nystagmus, hoarseness, breathing and swallowing difficulties will appear, and severe cases will die soon. Therefore, it is best not to feed infants with honey. If you really need to use it, you must strictly sterilize and disinfect it, and you must not be careless.

Although honey has high nutritional value, it is very likely to contain some germs. These germs may not have any effect on adults with strong resistance, but children with weak resistance may get sick, which is not worth the loss. For people, there are many foods like honey water in life, and people should pay attention to whether they can be given to children.
