How effective is the Chinese medicine patch in treating baby’s cough?

Everyone coughs. Coughing is a defensive movement of the human body. For example, after inhaling irritating dust, coughing can prevent the dust from entering, so coughing is often a way of self-protection. In life, children cough from time to time, and the reasons are very complicated. It may be a cough caused by respiratory tract infection, it may be due to allergies, it may be a cough caused by gastroesophageal reflux, it may be a cough caused by heart problems, etc. Therefore, the cause cannot be judged solely by coughing. Usually, coughing is accompanied by other symptoms, so parents must learn to comprehensively judge the cause. The following introduces the method of using Chinese medicine patches to treat baby coughs.

First, is Chinese medicine patch effective for children's cough?

There is a certain effect.

Dry and grind almonds, Fritillaria cirrhosa, ephedra and salt into fine powder respectively. After grinding the salt, heat it in a pot. Sprinkle the roasted salt and powder evenly on the plaster (either analgesic plaster or black plaster). The plaster mainly plays a fixing role. Then apply it to the Tanzhong and Feishu points between the lungs, 1 patch per day, 3 days as a course of treatment.

Almond is an important medicine for relieving cough and asthma, Fritillaria cirrhosa is good at moistening the lungs, relieving cough and reducing phlegm, and ephedra can enhance the anti-asthmatic effect.

Herbal books of all dynasties state that "Ephedra is a special medicine for the lung meridian and is often used to treat lung diseases." Salt can clear away heat and dissipate cold, and guide the medicine into the body. The above medicines are combined and applied to the acupuncture points.

The meridian points spread from the surface to the inside. Tanzhong point is the meeting point of Qi, which can regulate Qi, reduce adverse effects, resolve phlegm and open up the orifices.

The Feishu point is the back-Shu point of the lung, and is an important point for treating cough and asthma. This therapy stimulates the acupuncture points from the outside to the inside, dispersing and moving the medicine so that it reaches the diseased area directly. The medicine is specific, the therapeutic effect is significant, and no adverse reactions are observed.

Second, the precautions for Chinese medicine application

Acupoint patch therapy is very safe for most patients, but it is not recommended for those with a clear history of skin allergies.

Some people with allergic skin may experience local skin reactions after use. The most common ones are local redness, fever, or even burning, tingling or itching - these are normal treatment reactions and generally do not require treatment.

If the patient experiences tingling, numbness or itching, there is no need to scratch. Scratching will not relieve the itching but will cause pain.

If the itching is unbearable, you can apply anti-itch medication locally or stop using the product or use it gradually. Or if the skin becomes red and itchy after applying the patch, you can apply some chloramphenicol eye ointment.

Third, care after Chinese medicine application

After applying the Chinese medicine plaster, the child should eat mainly light and easily digestible food, and eat less raw, cold and hard food; avoid seafood, irritating foods and spicy and irritating foods.

After removing the Chinese medicine patch, be sure to keep your skin clean. You can scrub the area or take a bath, but do not rub it hard. After showering, use a towel to absorb the water stains on the acupuncture points.

Generally speaking, after removing the Chinese medicine patch, local skin flushing and a warm feeling will occur. If the skin flushes obviously and the heat and pain are severe, blisters may appear.

There is no need to treat densely packed small blisters. Avoid local friction to prevent rupture. If larger blisters appear, routine disinfection is required to keep the skin dry and prevent infection.
