Swollen and painful gums are relatively common dental diseases. If children do not eat regularly, eat in a disorderly manner, or do not develop good oral hygiene habits, they are prone to the disease. This is also a common symptom of gingivitis. After the disease occurs, it often causes redness, swelling and pain, and bleeding gums. If you do not pay attention to timely care and treatment, it is easy to induce other symptoms. 1. Dirty gingivitis It is more common in children aged 3 to 5 who cannot master the correct brushing method and have poor oral hygiene. The labial and buccal symptoms are obvious on the primary incisors and molars, with redness, swelling and easy bleeding of the gingival margin and gingival papillae, and local attachment of dental plaque and food debris. Local cleaning should be performed in time to control infection. Parents are asked to help maintain oral hygiene. The prognosis is generally good. 2. Gingivitis due to crowded dentition It is caused by crowded and misaligned teeth. Misaligned teeth make the oral cavity's self-cleaning function poor, making it inconvenient to brush teeth. Food residues can easily accumulate and irritate gums. The misaligned teeth during the period of tooth replacement are temporary and will no longer affect the gums after self-adjustment, but you should pay attention to oral hygiene. For malocclusion and crowding of teeth that require orthodontic treatment, the inflammation will be reduced or disappear after treatment. 3. Eruptive gingivitis Eruptive gingivitis is mostly caused by gum discomfort when teeth erupt, and children touch or chew the gums with their fingers or toys, which causes damage to the gingival mucosa. Temporary gingivitis that often occurs during the eruption of deciduous teeth and first permanent molars. It manifests as congestion of the gingival tissue along the crown of the tooth, but there are no obvious subjective symptoms, and it gradually heals itself as the tooth erupts. 4. Gingivitis during puberty It occurs among students in the upper grades of elementary school and the lower grades of middle school. It is more likely to occur in female students during menarche, which is related to their endocrine changes. Its characteristic is that the child has good oral hygiene, but the gums tend to bleed and proliferate. Children are reluctant to brush their teeth for fear of touching bleeding gums, which leads to poor oral hygiene and worsens the condition. Children should pay attention to oral hygiene, rinse their mouths with mouthwash, and apply iodine glycerin topically for treatment. Generally, the disease will heal naturally after the body's progesterone secretion begins to increase. |
