Will children also have high blood pressure?

Will children also have high blood pressure?

High blood pressure mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people. This is because various organs in the body fail as people age, which leads to high blood pressure. However, many children may also have high blood pressure. This symptom is commonly known as puberty. Although high blood pressure is not a common disease, its characteristics are very obvious and will make people feel uncomfortable.

Adolescent hypertension has the following characteristics:

1 The systolic blood pressure (commonly known as high pressure) is high while the diastolic blood pressure (commonly known as low pressure) is not high. The high pressure can reach 140-150 mmHg, and the low pressure does not exceed 85-90 mmHg.

2 Normally, there is no discomfort, and only some discomfort such as dizziness, chest tightness, etc. is felt after excessive fatigue or strenuous exercise. Because the symptoms are not obvious, they are often ignored by teenagers, parents and medical staff.

3. Part of the cause is related to the drastic neuroendocrine changes during puberty, accelerated organ development, and blood vessels cannot keep up with the development of the heart. After puberty, blood pressure will gradually return to normal levels.

To prevent hypertension in adolescence, first of all, we must educate teenagers to actively participate in physical examinations organized by the school, understand their blood pressure conditions, so as to discover them in time, further confirm the diagnosis, find out the causes, and treat them in time; secondly, we must implement the general principles of preventing hypertension, such as paying attention to the combination of work and rest, avoiding excessive fatigue; keeping emotions stable to avoid blood pressure fluctuations due to emotional fluctuations; exercising appropriately, doing more exercises that are beneficial to heart health, such as swimming, running, etc.; not smoking, not drinking, and maintaining good behavioral habits. Dietary issues should also be adjusted.
