Baby's stuffy nose, there are ways to treat it

Many parents are worried when their baby has a cold and has symptoms such as nasal congestion and cough. In fact, as long as you choose the right treatment method, you can easily help your baby stay away from illness. Whether it is steaming, massage, position change or breast milk, it will have a significant effect on the treatment of baby's nasal congestion. Parents should fully understand and learn these methods so that they can easily deal with their baby's nasal congestion problem.

1. Quick-acting method for baby's cold and stuffy nose

The drug instillation method mostly uses ephedra alkaline nasal solution, 2 to 3 drops are dripped, and the therapeutic effect is significant. But this medicine has side effects and cannot be used for a long time.

Fumigation

Take a handful of scallions (preferably chives) or 3-4 onions, chop them into pieces and fry them into hot soup, then use the vapor to fumigate your nose; or boil vinegar and inhale the vapor through your nose, both are more effective. 》》If mother does this, baby can breathe more easily

Massage

Take a side-lying position. If the left side is blocked, lie on the right, otherwise lie on the left. Then use the index finger to press the Yingxiang acupoints on both sides of the nose. It will be effective after 2 minutes.

Conjugation

This method is suitable for infants. When a baby has a stuffy nose, he often cries and makes a fuss, and cannot be made to sleep in bed. If the baby is held upright, he will soon fall asleep peacefully.

2. Relieve baby's cold and stuffy nose

Scallion breast milk

If your child has a blocked nose, you can use traditional methods to solve the problem. China has a five thousand year history of traditional culture, and there are many relatively reliable ancient prescriptions. These ancient prescriptions that have been passed down have proven to be effective to a certain extent. Ancient recipes mention that breast milk and scallion whites can be used to help relieve a baby’s nasal congestion. The process of making breast milk scallion is not complicated. We just need to prepare a scallion and a little breast milk. However, when actually adding the scallion whites, we should take into account the baby's age and choose only a small portion of the scallion whites. Put it in a small amount of breast milk, heat it slightly for a while, and let the baby eat it after it cools down. The baby's cold and nasal congestion will improve.

3. Four common types of baby's cold and nasal congestion

Type 1: Typhoid fever

Fever, fear of cold, still feeling cold even with a quilt, accompanied by headache, nasal congestion, runny nose, no sore throat and sweating, this is a "typhoid" type cold. Commonly used Chinese medicines include perilla leaves, almonds, schizonepeta, saposhnikovia, cassia twig, ephedra, platycodon, peucedanum, notopterygium, etc. A characteristic of these Chinese medicines is that they contain volatile oil ingredients, which can improve peripheral blood circulation and induce sweating, achieving the so-called "resolving the symptoms" and removing wind and cold. In fact, this type of cold can also be treated simply with ginger soup.

Type 2: “Wind-heat” cold

This type of cold is quite different from the first type (wind-cold) cold in that the patient will have a "sore throat" symptom. Clinically, fever is common and fear of cold is relatively less obvious. There are usually symptoms of headache, nasal congestion and sneezing. The sputum coughed up is thicker and even yellow. This type of cold is called "wind-heat" type cold in traditional Chinese medicine. It can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine with "natural anti-inflammatory ingredients" such as chrysanthemum, forsythia, mulberry leaf, honeysuckle, mint, burdock, etc.

Type 3: "Summer and dampness type" cold

Persistent high fever, general fatigue, loss of appetite, and even affecting the gastrointestinal system (with symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting), the tongue coating is yellow. This type of cold belongs to the "summer heat and dampness type", which is more common in hot summer. It can be treated with Chinese medicines such as Elsholtzia, Honeysuckle, Patchouli, Cymbopogon japonicus, Magnolia officinalis, Coptis chinensis, and Phaseolus odoratus that have the effect of clearing heat and removing dampness.

Type 4: Cold with more cough

The symptoms of this type of cold are mainly cough and sputum, while headache, sore throat and fever are not obvious. If the sputum coughed up is yellow, it can be improved with mulberry bark, rehmannia root bark, licorice, houttuynia cordata, and aster to improve it. If the sputum is white, it can be treated with traditional Chinese medicines such as radish seed, white mustard seed, perilla seed, bitter orange, bamboo shavings, and tangerine peel.
