What to do if your baby grinds his teeth severely

Many parents know that it takes a lot of effort to raise a baby from childhood to adulthood. Some babies grind their teeth when they sleep. This is a common phenomenon. Some are physiological reactions, and some may be physical problems. Therefore, we must find out the reasons why the baby grinds his teeth before we can treat it. So what should we do if the baby grinds his teeth severely?

1. Intestinal anthelmintic treatment: Ascaridicide treatment reduces the peristalsis of intestinal parasites and stimulates the intestinal wall. Bruxism caused by roundworms may occur in children for hygiene reasons, but the chance of bruxism caused by roundworms in adolescents and adults is almost non-existent. Therefore, deworming treatments are not effective for adolescents and adults.

2. Occlusal splint treatment: Make a dental splint, wear it on your jaw before going to bed at night, and remove it in the morning to relieve muscle tension. It is currently the most easily accepted by doctors and patients. It is effective in preventing tooth wear but cannot cure bruxism.

3. Correct bad habits of the dental and maxillofacial system. Such as unilateral chewing, biting pencils, and chewing gum frequently.

Patients with severe nocturnal bruxism should take active treatment measures, starting with the cause and paying attention to psychological adjustment and stress relief. It is best to rest and relax before going to bed, avoid stimulating foods, and improve the sleeping environment. Systemic diseases should also be actively treated to reduce the occurrence of nocturnal bruxism.

For bruxism caused mainly by occlusal factors, it is necessary to go to the oral department of a hospital for treatment, by grinding away early contact points of the teeth and removing occlusal interference. Patients with missing teeth can undergo denture restoration, change their unilateral chewing habits and other measures to achieve a balanced occlusion.

If the teeth are severely worn, it is recommended to use an occlusal pad to separate them to prevent further wear of the teeth. Patients cannot purchase it on their own and need to choose and wear it under the guidance of a doctor.

The above is some introduction on what to do if your baby has severe teeth grinding. Teeth grinding not only occurs in babies, but also in many adults. We must have a correct understanding of this phenomenon and not ignore it, because teeth grinding will also have a certain impact on our lives and must be corrected and treated in time.
