What to do if a newborn has a fever? Three reasons to tell you

A newborn's fever is actually a reaction of substances in the human body to the invasion of external viruses. The higher the fever temperature, the stronger the body's ability to resist the outside world, but it does not mean that the high temperature can be ignored.

1. Fever caused by excessively high ambient temperature : such as hot water bottles or indoor stoves causing the room temperature to be too high. Because the newborn's body temperature regulation function is not perfect and cannot maintain the balance of heat production and heat dissipation, it causes fever. This type of fever only requires adjusting the ambient temperature and does not require treatment.

2. Dehydration fever: Newborns born in the hot summer will become dehydrated due to factors such as excessive sweating and lack of milk intake, and their body temperature will rise to 38-40℃. However, the newborns are generally in good condition and have normal mental responses. Their body temperature will drop rapidly after feeding or rehydration, and the fever rarely lasts for more than one day. This is called "dehydration fever." This type of fever can be treated simply by drinking enough fluids. No other special treatment is required.

3. If the child's body temperature is normal during the day , rises in the evening and subsides in the morning, it means that the child's fever is caused by severe cold and deficiency in the body. At this time, the child should still be given ginger, brown sugar and onion water. It is best to soak the feet in mugwort water to dispel the cold. The child can also drink broth and light chicken soup. The Guyuan paste can be taken twice a day, half a spoonful each time, to supplement the child with nutrition in time. At the same time, let the child drink more water.
