Everyone knows that children's physical constitution is relatively weaker than that of adults, so they often have sore throats. These may also be caused by problems inside the body, and long-term inability to heal will have a great impact on your body. Many parents are worried, so the following editor will introduce to you what to do if your child's throat is inflamed and swollen? (A) Acute pharyngitis Acute pharyngitis is one of the common diseases of the pharynx, the main cause of which is infection by hemolytic streptococci, pneumococci or viruses. Acute pharyngitis is sometimes part of an acute upper respiratory tract infection and occurs simultaneously with acute tonsillitis, acute rhinitis, and acute laryngitis. Sometimes acute pharyngitis is a prodromal symptom of certain acute infectious diseases, such as measles, whooping cough, scarlet fever, etc. The main clinical manifestations are dryness, burning sensation and slight pain in the throat, followed by aggravated pain, which worsens when swallowing, and are often accompanied by general malaise, chills, fever, headache and sore limbs. During the examination, the pharynx is congested, or there is sticky secretion, the cervical lymph nodes are tender, and the white blood cell count is increased. (ii) Acute tonsillitis Acute tonsillitis is a common disease. The main cause is infection with beta-hemolytic streptococci or other staphylococci or pneumococci. Symptoms vary in severity and include general discomfort, chills, fever, headache, aches and pains in the limbs, sore throat, and swollen and painful lymph nodes below the neck. Examination may reveal pharyngeal congestion, red and swollen tonsils, or purulent secretions on the surface, and tenderness of the cervical lymph nodes. Sometimes it is complicated by peritonsillitis or abscess, or by acute rheumatic fever, myocarditis, nephritis and arthritis. (III) Peritonsillar abscess Most peritonsillar abscesses are secondary to acute tonsillitis, especially those with recurrent chronic tonsillitis. Its symptoms are similar to those of acute tonsillitis, but are more severe. Throat pain is limited to one side, the pain worsens when swallowing, and radiates to the ear on the same side. After the abscess is formed, systemic and local symptoms worsen, throat pain worsens, swallowing becomes difficult, speech becomes slurred, mouth opening becomes difficult, and even teeth become clenched. The patient presented with an acute illness, with the head tilted to the affected side, limited neck movement, and enlarged and tender lymph nodes below the affected side. Most of the time, children's sore throats are caused by minor illnesses such as colds or tonsillitis. Summer is the peak season for colds, but if your throat is severely red, swollen and inflamed, to the point where you have a fever and have difficulty swallowing, or if it lasts for a long time, more than two or three weeks, then the condition is often not just a simple cold or tonsillitis, but may be a sign of some serious illness, so you need to be alert. If conditions permit, you can go to the hospital for treatment in time. So how should we prevent children's throats from becoming red, swollen and inflamed? First of all, strengthening physical exercise can enhance children's ability to resist respiratory infections. It is recommended to carry out "three baths" (sun bath, air bath, water bath) exercise. Long-term three-bath exercise can not only enhance the physique of susceptible children, but also have a good effect on various systems of the body. When doing three-bath exercise, attention should be paid to the principles of gradual progress, adapting to local conditions, starting from an early age, and persisting frequently. Secondly, pay attention to the "microclimate" in the room, and ventilate regularly. When the concentration of harmful substances in the atmosphere exceeds a certain level, it can reduce the body's resistance and prevent passive smoking. Finally, arrange your child's daily schedule reasonably and ensure they get enough sleep. In fact, in life, children’s throat inflammation and swelling are not very serious diseases, but they still require a lot of attention. Nowadays, many parents are constantly busy with their work and careers, but they still need to find some time to take good care of their children. We need to pay attention to our diet and lifestyle habits. |
