Bath temperature for four month old baby

Bath temperature for four month old baby

Many young parents nowadays lack experience in bringing up children and parenting knowledge. Moreover, since the babies are relatively young and cannot speak, a four-month-old baby can only express his or her physical discomfort by crying. At this time, parents need to learn to observe. In daily life, the baby needs to be bathed frequently. Everyone knows that the baby's skin is very delicate, and the water temperature must not be high during bathing. Too high water temperature will burn the skin.

What is the appropriate bath temperature for a four-month-old baby?

The temperature for bathing a baby should be between 38 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too high, it will not only hurt the baby's skin, but also hurt the testicle development of the boy, and in severe cases, it may even cause loss of fertility.

How to bathe a baby?

Step 1: Parents should wash their hands first, and then use a soft towel to gently wipe the baby's eyes, gently wiping from the inside of the eye to the outside; then wipe the face (do not rub); then clean the ears, and finally gently wipe the nostrils. Only clean what you can see, and do not try to wipe the inside.

Step 2: Coordinate your left and right hands to support the baby's body. When bathing your baby, start from the head, wash the face first, then the hair, and finally the whole body. When bathing, use your left arm to hold the baby's body and support the baby's head so that the baby feels safe and comfortable. Use your index finger and thumb to gently cover the baby's ears inward to prevent water from flowing into the baby's ears.

Step 3: Take off the baby's clothes and gently place the baby into the prepared bath water.

Step 4: When washing a baby girl, never separate her labia to clean the inside, as this will prevent the flow of mucus that can kill bacteria. Wash from front to back. This prevents bacteria from the anus from spreading to the vagina and causing infection.

When washing a baby boy, never push up on his foreskin to clean the inside, as this can tear or damage the foreskin.

Step 5: After rinsing, take the baby out of the water, cover him with a dry and soft bath towel immediately, and gently and carefully wipe off the water, paying special attention to wrinkled areas such as ears, neck, armpits, navel, external genitalia, and between toes.

Step 6: After drying, put the baby in clean clothes prepared in advance.

It is worth noting that if you are bathing a newborn baby within 7 days, you must be especially careful not to touch the umbilical cord stump because it has not fallen off yet. Don’t worry if it gets wet during the shower, just wipe it dry with a clean cotton swab and apply 75% alcohol.
