How much sleep should a two-year-old baby get?

A two-year-old baby has already learned to talk and walk, and consumes much more energy than ordinary infants and young children in a day. So how much sleep is healthy and reasonable for a two-year-old baby?

There are individual differences in babies' sleep time. Some sleep more, some sleep less. The normal sleep time required by children per day is as follows: newborn to 2 months, 20 hours, 2 to 4 months, 16 to 18 hours, 4 to 9 months, 15 to 16 hours, 9 to 12 months, 14 to 15 hours, 12 to 15 months, 13 to 14 hours, 15 months to 2 years, 13 hours, 2 to 3 years, 12.5 hours, 3 to 5 years, 12 hours.

A two-year-old baby needs to sleep 12-13 hours a day, because sufficient sleep can allow the baby's brain to develop well, especially the pituitary gland's growth hormone, which is secreted at night, so sufficient sleep can ensure that the child grows taller. Of course, it is not strictly required to reach 12-13 hours, and sometimes it varies from person to person, but it is very important to sleep for 2 hours at noon.

The quality of sleep has an important impact on children's height. According to research, children grow three times faster when they are asleep than when they are awake. This is because, after the child falls asleep, the pituitary gland located at the base of the brain can secrete more growth hormone. The function of growth hormone is to promote the growth of bones, muscles, connective tissue and internal organs. Children before entering puberty only secrete growth hormone during sleep. Therefore, you should understand that sleep is not just a need for rest for children, but also a catalyst for promoting physical development.

Children's sleep must not only be guaranteed in quantity, but also in quality. If children develop good sleeping habits from an early age, they will benefit from it throughout their lives.

The above is the sleep time of a two-year-old baby. A two-year-old baby can walk freely and consume more physical energy, so the quality of sleep is actually more important than the duration of insomnia. As parents, we should create a comfortable insomnia environment for our children to help them have a better sleep.
