Common manifestations of intestinal infection in newborns

If a newborn has an intestinal infection, it is a relatively serious disease. When a newborn has an intestinal infection, the horse will cause serious damage to the newborn's intestines. Therefore, for many parents, when this happens, they are particularly worried and want to fully understand the manifestations of intestinal infection in newborns. The following is a detailed introduction so that you can understand it as soon as possible.

1. Enterovirus RNA was detected in 131 newborns, accounting for 39.22% of all febrile children.

2. The initial clinical manifestations and signs of children with enterovirus infection were non-specific, including respiratory symptoms in 48 cases (36.64%), diarrhea in 69 cases (52.67%), anorexia in 22 cases (16.79%), irritability in 18 cases (13.74%), lethargy in 3 cases (2.29%), and convulsions in 2 cases (1.53%).

3. 58 cases (44.27%) had positive enterovirus RNA in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), CSF cell count (2-668)×106/L; CSF white blood cell count (100.38±147.97)×106/L.

4. Among the 131 patients with enterovirus infection, 102 (77.86%) obtained enterovirus genotyping results, including 48 Cox B1 (47.05%), 36 Echo30 (35.29%), 10 Cox B3 (9.80%), 4 Echo16 (3.92%), 2 Cox B2 and 2 Echo30 (1.96%). Twenty-nine samples failed to be successfully typed.

5. Patients with abnormal cerebrospinal fluid were routinely given cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations, and 12 cases were found to have abnormal MRI examinations, including 6 premature infants (35-36 weeks) and 6 full-term infants, with a male:female ratio of 2:1. Eleven cases had an onset of less than 7 days. MRI showed T1WI periventricular white matter or deep white matter with dot-like, cluster-like or cord-like high signals (Figure), and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) showed abnormal signals in the periventricular white matter, deep white matter or corpus callosum; 12 patients with MRI abnormalities were followed up for 18 months, and 2 patients developed cerebral palsy.

The general manifestations of intestinal infection in neonates. Through the comprehensive understanding above, I believe many mothers have fully understood the general manifestations of intestinal infection in neonates. Therefore, after seeing the general manifestations introduced above, in order to prevent the intestinal infection in neonates from causing serious complications, it is necessary to carry out effective treatment as soon as possible to keep the child's intestines healthy.
