Symptoms of abdominal distension in full-month baby

Babies are particularly prone to abdominal distension, especially for those who eat formula and breast milk, because during this period they eat some liquid food, and many babies like to play while eating, which can easily cause some air to enter the baby's stomach, causing the baby to have abdominal distension. So what are the symptoms of abdominal distension in a full-month baby?

Be aware that babies are more prone to gas than adults. If you find that your baby has abdominal distension, the first thing you should do is to check whether the baby has vomiting in addition to abdominal distension. If accompanied by frequent vomiting of food, even bile or feces; constipation, only once every 3 to 5 days, and the amount of stool is very small, and the baby becomes increasingly thin, it may be congenital megacolon and you should go to the hospital as soon as possible for further examination and treatment.

If the abdominal distension comes and goes, the distension is obvious after feeding, there is no vomiting or occasional vomiting, the distension is relieved after farting, no fecal matter is felt when pressing the abdomen, the feeding and eating are normal, and there is no gradual weight loss, it may be due to improper feeding methods.

When children suckle, they inhale more air, causing abdominal distension due to air pressure. You can give them Chinese medicine: 6 grams of Citrus aurantium, 8 grams of Radish Seed, 3 grams each of Magnolia officinalis, Licorice, and Tangerine Peel. Add 150 ml of water, decoct 60 ml, take 3 times, 1 dose per day, for 3 consecutive days.

In addition, if the feeding method is inappropriate, you should also improve the breastfeeding method. Do not let the baby suck the nipple empty. After each breastfeeding, pick up the baby and gently pat his back. During breastfeeding, mothers should eat less gas-producing foods such as sweet potatoes.

If an infant develops abdominal distension, cries, and has nausea and vomiting after not having a bowel movement for several days, it may be caused by accumulation of meconium. Give the infant 3 grams of senna leaves, diluted with 60 ml of boiled water. After 5 minutes, take 10 to 15 ml. The abdominal distension will disappear after the meconium is excreted, and the medication can be stopped after the abdominal distension disappears. If a baby cries incessantly due to abdominal distension, you can gently massage the baby's abdomen with your hands, or apply a little wind-repellent oil around the baby's belly button.

Other treatments for bloating:

1. Don’t drink milk.

2. Take lactobacillus tablets and Xingpi Yanger granules before meals.

3. Massage your abdomen gently with your hands frequently, 100 times clockwise and 100 times counterclockwise.

4. This method is often used in rural areas and has no side effects. Use tea tree oil and large pieces of powder (I don't know what the scientific name is, it's the round, thick powder often sold in needlework stalls or stores) to rub the palms of your hands until they are very warm. Stick your palms on the baby's belly (near the navel and downwards) and move downwards with a little force. Repeat this rubbing and sticking four or five times, and the baby will soon fart and everything will be fine.
