The dangers of persistent low-grade fever in infants

The dangers of persistent low-grade fever in infants

For some children, if the fever persists, it will be very harmful to the body, because it may lead to a high fever, and frequent fever will also threaten the child's intelligence. If the child is often given some antipyretic drugs because of the low fever, it is easy to cause the child to rely on the antipyretic drugs. Most antipyretic drugs contain hormones. So what are the dangers of a baby's persistent low fever?

The dangers of persistent low-grade fever in children

1. The harm of persistent low-grade fever in children

Once the body temperature drops to 36℃, people's reaction and judgment abilities will be weakened; when it drops to 35℃, walking will be difficult; when it drops to 33℃, people will lose their reason; at 30℃, people will lose consciousness. When the body temperature drops to 20℃, the human heart will stop beating. A variety of illnesses can cause a low-grade fever. Fever is a symptom. Diseases such as rheumatism, tuberculosis, chronic inflammation, and low immunity can cause persistent low fever. Long-term psychological stress and emotional instability can also cause disorders in the body temperature center, resulting in persistent low fever of unknown cause.

2. Is fever harmful to the body?

If your baby has a fever, it must be a virus invasion that caused a cold! This is the first thought of many parents. In fact, fever is not always harmful to the body. Fever activates the body's immune system and is one of the body's protective mechanisms. A normal fever (37.8-40℃) can help sick children fight infections in the body and is usually good for the body. Of course, although a baby’s fever is not a bad thing, parents should not take it lightly and should take good care of their baby.

3. Will a fever damage the brain?

My baby has a high fever. Will it damage his brain? I believe many parents have heard of this statement, so when the baby's fever reaches above 39℃, parents will try every trick to lower the baby's temperature. In fact, fever combined with infection will not cause damage to the brain, so generally speaking, there is no need to worry about your baby's brain being damaged or suffering from any sequelae.

But fever only causes damage to the brain when the body temperature is above 42°C, and it only rises to this level when the body is exposed to extreme ambient temperatures (such as leaving a child in a closed car on a hot day). When the baby has a high fever, I believe most parents will be unable to sit still and will send the baby to the hospital. Under the doctor's care, the baby's temperature will definitely not be that high, so parents don't need to worry too much.

Dietary treatment for fever

1. Eat more onions to reduce sweating and fever

Onions are often used as medicine. Their spiciness can induce sweating. Although the green part is more nutritious, it has little medicinal value. It is better to use the white part. Onions are very effective for fever, chills and the early symptoms of a cold, but they are not suitable for situations where fever is accompanied by night sweats and thirst. Cook it into onion soup and drink it, the effect is good.

Take the white part of two green onions and cut them into thin sections. Put them into the pot, add a tablespoon of salty sauce, pour in an appropriate amount of water and stir evenly until it boils, and drink it while it is hot.

2. Eat lotus root when you have a fever or are thirsty

Fresh lotus juice is very effective in treating bleeding, cough and fever.

First wash the lotus root, peel it, and filter the juice with gauze. If pear juice is added, the effect will be better. You can mix lotus root juice and pear juice half and half to make a cup for drinking.
