What causes acne on children's faces?

Soon after a baby is born, he or she will start to develop yellow acne, which will make the baby's skin turn yellow but will disappear in a few days. However, it will be different if it is baby acne. Acne appears as white pimples, but the surrounding skin will turn red, and if it is small, it will heal on its own in a few days. There is no specific reason why children get acne, but it may be closely related to what the mother eats during breastfeeding. Because the baby's skin is very delicate, parents should not over-clean it.

Baby acne usually appears on the face. Some babies have it at birth, while others do not appear until one or two weeks later. Baby acne usually occurs between 3 months and 2 years old, and is more common in boys than in girls.

Baby acne mainly manifests as small whiteheads, and the surrounding skin may be red. If the baby has a small lump that disappears in a few weeks, then the baby may have milia, which has nothing to do with acne. If the small blisters appear on other parts of the body, it may be cradle cap and eczema. Parents are advised to consult a doctor.

So why do babies get acne? In fact, baby acne, like adult acne, has no clear cause. However, if you take certain medications during breastfeeding or your baby takes certain medications, it may also cause baby acne.

When babies have acne, parents should avoid applying any lotion or oil to the baby, because these will burden the baby's skin metabolism and make the acne worse.

The baby's skin is still relatively tender, so there is no need to over-clean it. Excessive washing will only further irritate your baby's skin, so don't over-wash your baby. Just wash your baby's face with clean water once a day. In addition, baby acne will become more obvious due to stimulation from some factors, such as when the baby feels hot, irritable, or due to stimulation from saliva, milk, clothing materials, etc. This is something that parents need to pay close attention to. Finally, baby acne will go away on its own and there is no need to use medication. Do not blindly use medication on your own to avoid causing further damage to your baby's skin.
