Newborn baby gasping and snoring

Newborn baby gasping and snoring

When a baby is born, it will bring a lot of joy to the family. In particular, the mother will devote all her love to the baby. She will pay attention to the baby's every move at all times, including often looking at the baby's cute appearance when the baby is sleeping. Many mothers will find that their babies make snoring sounds when they breathe, which makes them feel strange.

Newborn baby gasping and snoring

Why is the newborn baby panting and snoring?

After the baby is born, it is caused by congenital incomplete development of laryngeal cartilage and insufficient maturity of laryngeal tissue structure, especially when the mother is calcium deficient during pregnancy. After the newborn is born, the larynx will be narrow and the laryngeal cartilage will soften. When inhaling, the negative pressure will increase, causing part of the laryngeal tissue to sink into the respiratory tract, emitting respiratory murmurs.

What to do if your newborn baby is panting and snoring

1. Supplement cod liver oil and calcium supplements in time

Since the imperfect development of laryngeal cartilage is mainly caused by calcium deficiency, in addition to timely calcium supplementation, you should also get more sun exposure to promote cartilage development.

2. Prevent choking and respiratory infection

During the feeding process, mothers need to be more careful to prevent babies from choking on milk or water, prevent respiratory infections, and avoid close contact with patients with respiratory infections. At the same time, mothers should strengthen babies' physical exercise, do more outdoor activities, and do baby gymnastics to enhance their physique.

3. Observe wheezing symptoms and treat them promptly

Be careful to prevent colds and avoid respiratory infections that may induce laryngeal spasm, aggravate laryngeal obstruction, and cause breathing difficulties and suffocation in your baby. The baby is having a wheezing attack, has difficulty breathing, and has severe symptoms. New mothers can adjust the baby's position appropriately and put the baby in a side-lying position to alleviate the symptoms. If the condition is serious, go to the hospital in time to see a doctor and determine whether a tracheotomy is needed.

Newborn care precautions

Kissing a newborn baby

Not only do adults have a large number of bacteria in their mouths, but each tooth contains approximately hundreds of millions of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, and the tongue contains even more bacteria and viruses.

Once you kiss your newborn, these bacteria and viruses will be transferred to the newborn's mouth or skin through saliva.

However, since the immune mechanism of newborns is immature and cannot resist these foreign pathogens, it is easy to induce disease.

Pinching the newborn baby's face

Some adults, when they see a newborn baby with a chubby and cute face, will habitually pinch the baby's face hard to show their love.

However, the baby may not be able to withstand the strength of adults, and it may even affect the development of the baby's parotid gland. Or the more the baby is pinched, the more likely he or she will drool, which will aggravate the problem of skin eczema.

Giving drinking water to newborns

Newborn feeding is a big science. Newborns are not like adults. Without special circumstances, they do not need drinking water before 6 months old. They only need breastfeeding. The earlier the breastfeeding, the better, generally about half an hour after birth. If the mother is not secreting milk for the time being, try to let the newborn suck the nipple to promote milk secretion.
