Things to pay attention to when sending your 2-year-old baby to daycare

The pace of social development is getting faster and faster, and modern young people are fully committed to their work, working overtime and staying up late for a long time. In some families, young children become a burden because there are no elders at home to take care of them. At this time, parents have no choice but to send their children to daycare centers. The issue of children’s safety arises from this, so choosing a reliable daycare center becomes the top priority for parents. What should I pay attention to when sending a 2-year-old baby to daycare?

1. Consider three points to decide whether your child should go to daycare

1. Is there anyone at home taking care of you? How is the care going?

A two-year-old baby is in the critical period of self-construction. When born, the baby believes that he and his mother are one. At age 2, they begin to realize that they and their mother are different individuals, and it is not until age 3 that their self-construction is fully formed. So at this stage when they are over 2 years old, they will still stick to their mothers, are unwilling to share with other children, and don’t care at all about their friends around them.

So if there is someone at home who can take care of the baby, there is actually no need to send the baby to daycare. Some mothers would say, at the age of two, shouldn’t their children go to daycare to learn how to get along with others? Even though they still play by themselves, they need more contact with the outside world. Otherwise, how can they get along with their friends? Yes, that’s true, but at this stage they are more just feeling the atmosphere with their peers and observing the behaviors of other children. This need can not necessarily be met by attending a daycare center.

If the child has the opportunity to interact with children of the same age on weekdays, such as putting him in a place where other children gather, or if we take him to an early education class once a week, then that is completely fine.

Of course, if the children are taken care of by elderly people at home and they are unable to take care of themselves and always let the children watch TV or are bored, then you can consider sending them to daycare centers.

2. What is the child’s natural temperament and personality like?

Going to daycare means that children have taken a step towards independence. They need to face the new environment and meet new people on their own. So you must have a full sense of security in your heart.

If we have established a very good parent-child attachment relationship with our child before the age of two, and the child himself is particularly easy to accept new environments and new things, then we can send him to a daycare center.

But if the child is a high-need baby, is particularly sensitive and clingy, has very strong separation anxiety, and will be distracted if we leave for a while, then parents should not send him to daycare, as this will only increase their pressure. If you want your children to be independent, the best way and prerequisite is to give them enough sense of security.

3. Are there any good daycare teachers? How experienced and comforting is she?

Daycare classes are actually all similar, and the most important thing is to see how the teacher is. The teacher's experience and ability to soothe the baby largely determine whether the child feels happy and safe in the nursery class. Some teachers lack experience and become anxious when they see children crying. They cannot establish good interaction with the babies. The children will definitely be very anxious, and sending them to daycare centers is tantamount to suffering.
