Causes of vaginal adhesions in babies

When children are young, they will be stuffed with diapers. Many mothers will see their children's buttocks when they stuff diapers into their children. If mothers are careful, many will find that their children's vaginas will be adhered. This symptom of vaginal adhesion in children scares many parents. They don't know what causes the children. Usually, the children don't cry or make a fuss. The children are still young and can't speak. So what is the reason for the baby's vaginal adhesion?

Labia minora adhesion: generally caused by vulvar inflammation, a layer of gray, slightly transparent film connects the labia minora together. The vaginal opening cannot be seen from the outside, and it is easily misdiagnosed as a congenital malformation. Apply estrogen cold cream to the adhesion twice a day. It will usually separate naturally in 10 to 14 days. If it still has not separated, use a small curved forceps to insert the small hole at the front end and slowly move backwards to separate it.

Congenital absence of vagina: commonly known as "stone girl". This deformity is difficult to detect when one is young, and is usually discovered after marriage when one is unable to have sexual intercourse. Because the ovaries and uterus develop normally, but menstrual blood cannot be discharged and is retained in the uterine cavity, it can cause uterine enlargement and abdominal pain, which is also the basis for early diagnosis. Girls with congenital absence of vagina undergo vaginal dilation or vaginal reconstruction before menarche.

If your baby girl cries and screams when she urinates, and her urine stream becomes thin, forked, or not in a straight line, her labia minora may be sticking. It turns out that young children lack estrogen, their skin and mucous membranes are delicate, and the vulva is prone to various infections and abnormal stimulation, so the skin and mucous membranes are prone to inflammation and exudation, and over time the labia minora on both sides will adhere together.

This situation often occurs in girls between 3 months and 4 years old. Younger babies do not know how to express themselves by crying. Even if they cry, new mothers often think that the baby is hungry or does not want to wear diapers, and thus ignore the problem. Wang Caixia said that if no separation measures are taken, long-term labia adhesion will affect development, and severe cases must be separated surgically. "But parents should avoid forcibly separating them by hand to avoid causing greater damage and more serious adhesions."

1. To avoid vulvar inflammation or vaginal infection, when cleaning your baby, you must first clean the area around the urethra, and then scrub around the anus. When cleaning the urethral opening, gently pry open the labia majora to expose the entire labia minora, urethral opening and vaginal opening, and then use a special wet towel to thoroughly remove the dirt around the labia minora and urethral opening. Too moist skin can easily breed bacteria, so after cleaning, use a soft towel to thoroughly dry the baby's vagina.

2. Babies with vulvar inflammation will scratch their lower body, cry when urinating, have pus discharge from the vulva, emit a strange smell, or have redness and swelling of the vulva. If mothers discover this, they should take their babies to see a doctor immediately.

3. Dress your baby in loose, breathable, dry, crotch-closed pants as early as possible to prevent her from sitting around in open-crotch pants, which would allow germs to easily infect her vagina. If your baby is too young to wear closed-crotch pants, you should also prepare a piece of clean cotton cloth for your baby to sit on.

Editor's summary: If mothers find that their children's urine stream is abnormal or urinating is difficult, they should go to the hospital immediately.

Above we have summarized the reasons for the baby's vaginal adhesion phenomenon, and also provided corresponding improvement methods for many parents. If you find that your child's vagina has adhesion in life, you should pay attention to the child's symptoms and correct them in time. Vaginal adhesion in children is a very abnormal symptom. Our parents must pay attention to this symptom of the child and treat it in time.
