How many months does it take for a baby to be weaned?

For mothers, as their children grow up, the various nutrients provided by breast milk can no longer meet the needs of children's growth and development, so they have to wean their children. Weaning will encounter a problem. When is the best time to wean your baby? This problem has also troubled some mothers. Today, I will share with you the content about when to wean your child. Please see the following article on how old a child should be when weaning.

As the child grows and develops and meets their nutritional needs, 8 to 12 months is the appropriate time for weaning. In some cases, it can be extended to one and a half years old, and breastfeeding should be completely stopped at the age of two years at the latest. If the weather is hot, weaning is not advisable and can be postponed until the cool autumn.

It is not advisable to wean children during illness, and weaning should be delayed until they recover. If the mother is seriously ill or pregnant, breastfeeding must be stopped immediately, otherwise it will affect the mother's health or transmit the disease to the child.

The weaning method must be carried out gradually. For children aged three or four months, rice soup and vegetable soup can be added. For children aged five or six months, rice soup, batter, and egg yolk can be added. For children aged seven to nine months, rice porridge, mashed noodles, minced meat, tofu, and biscuits can be added. For children aged ten to twelve months, rice, noodles, minced meat, vegetables, tofu, etc. can be added. As the number of meals increases, the number of breastfeedings also decreases, and the baby is completely weaned at around one year old and starts eating children's meals.

Also, please note that when weaning your baby, the mother must have the determination and decisive attitude to wean the baby, and at the same time be able to allow the baby to gradually adapt to some changes in diet after weaning. Don't use harsh methods when weaning your baby. When your baby wants to drink breast milk, don't refuse him/her. After all, weaning your baby off is a process, so don't be too impatient. In short, it requires the mother's patience. If you force your baby to stop breastfeeding, it will cause psychological harm to the child. The baby will have resistance.
