Why are the skin on baby's fingers and toes peeling?

My neighbor has a cute baby. Today I went to their house to play. His mother asked me why the baby's fingers and toes are peeling. I guess many mothers have encountered this kind of thing. In fact, mothers don't need to worry too much, because the baby grows up and the metabolism is very fast. Peeling hands and feet means that the baby is growing fast.

In fact, almost all newborns will experience peeling, whether it is mild dandruff or snake-like peeling. As long as the baby's diet and sleep are fine, it is normal. Peeling occurs because the stratum corneum, the top layer of a newborn's skin, is not fully developed and is prone to falling off. In addition, the basement membrane connecting the epidermis and dermis of newborns is not well developed, which makes the connection between the epidermis and dermis not tight enough, increasing the chance of epidermal shedding. This peeling phenomenon may occur on any part of the body, but it is more obvious on the limbs and behind the ears. Just let it fall off naturally when bathing. There is no need to take special protective measures or forcibly tear off the peeling skin.

In addition, you can apply some hand cream or moisturizing lotion on the baby's skin to keep the baby's skin moist. If you don't moisturize the baby's hands, there will be small cracks on the hands after peeling. The baby is still young and has poor resistance, so it is easy to be infected by bacteria. If the baby's hands are accidentally infected, the mother should take the baby to the hospital for treatment in time.
