Can babies eat raw cucumbers?

Can babies eat raw cucumbers?

Many children need extra attention to their diet because of their young age, especially some children whose gastrointestinal system is not fully developed, and improper food choices can easily harm the stomach and intestines. Cucumber is a common food in our daily life and is rich in nutrients, but younger children should also be careful when eating cucumbers. Can babies eat raw cucumbers?

1. Babies have low immunity and poor gastrointestinal adaptability. Frequent eating of large amounts of raw cucumbers may cause stomach cold or gastrointestinal discomfort, and may also lead to diarrhea. But it is still okay to eat small amounts of cucumbers. If your baby's stomach has been in good condition before, you can eat some in the summer, but in small amounts. And don't make it too big, but make it smaller, such as giving him some cold cucumber shreds.

2. Generally speaking, children under 1 year old should not be fed raw cucumbers; if they are over 1 year old, you can give them a little bit, but not too much. Don't feed them the whole cucumber, as it is not conducive to digestion and may cause diarrhea in babies. Alternatively, you can peel the cucumber, squeeze the juice and dilute it 1:1. Cucumbers are tender and crisp, sweet and juicy, and eating them raw can quench your thirst. Cucumbers contain 98% water and a small amount of essential nutrients for the human body, such as vitamin C, carotene, protein, phosphorus, and iron. Cucumbers are low in calories, but their thiamine and riboflavin content is even higher than that of tomatoes.

3. Babies who are in the teething period can eat cucumbers with their hands. This can exercise the baby's hand-holding, mouth-eye coordination ability, and help the baby grind his teeth so that the teeth grow faster. When the baby is constipated, you can also give the baby some cucumber juice to relieve constipation. However, babies should not eat too much cucumber.
