What to do if your child is timid and afraid of people

What to do if your child is timid and afraid of people

Some parents are very worried about their children because they are always very timid and afraid of strangers. When meeting unfamiliar people, he dared not speak or say hello, but hid behind his parents. Parents all hope that their children are confident, eloquent and likable, so if a child is timid and afraid of others, they should train their courage. So, what should we do if our children are timid and afraid of others?

1. Have a correct parenting perspective. Do not pass on your own fears or feelings to your children. For example, if you are afraid of dogs, do not let your children have contact with dogs. When seeing a dog, you will be afraid, and at the same time, your children will also be afraid. This will not provide the right support for the children psychologically.

2. Prevent problems from happening. When children are young, you can be a strong supporter and encourage them to explore. When children encounter something they are afraid of, you should encourage them within a safe range so that they can have confidence and self-esteem from an early age.

3. When facing children’s timidity, you should be able to tell them what they feel. This will reduce their psychological burden and give them the opportunity to face their fears, the scenes or things they fear, with the help of their parents.

4. Spend more time with your children. When children are afraid to interact with other children, it means that they have not been taught the rules or attitudes of games when interacting at home. Parents should play more games and interact more with their children from an early age, and encourage them to participate in other children's games. They should not be too closed.

5. It should be done step by step. Children should not be allowed to change too much at once. Therefore, parents should be patient and let their children exercise more.

6. Take your children to participate in outdoor sports more often. They should not stay at home all the time and only interact with their parents or grandparents. The family members regard their children as the apple of their eye, but they will inevitably encounter setbacks outside. Therefore, children should be allowed to go out of the family from an early age, overcome their fears, and learn to get along with others;

7. When the child overcomes his fear, give him encouragement and reinforce his behavior in time;

8 When children are getting along with their parents, parents cannot give in to their children in everything, nor can they be too anxious. Parents should let go in time, support their children's lives from behind, and let the children suffer just the right amount of setbacks. Only in this way can they overcome their timidity and become strong and decisive.
