The baby cries at the same time every afternoon

Many parents are annoyed by their children's crying, especially for many new parents, who simply can't find the right way to solve the problem of their children's crying, so everyone will feel very uncomfortable and don't know how to deal with the baby. If the baby cries at a regular time every afternoon, in this case, you need to see if it is because of hunger or physical discomfort. In addition, it is not ruled out that the child may be suddenly awakened or have a nightmare, which leads to the crying phenomenon caused by lack of security.

Usually, this inconsolable crying begins around 2 weeks after birth and often peaks at 6 to 8 weeks, but it is not common after 3 to 4 months of age. Since most of them occur in a specific time period after sunset - most of them occur between 5 and 8 pm - of course some of them occur at other fixed time periods of the day, they are often called "sunset crying syndrome". Pediatricians and parenting books often call it "intestinal spasms" or "colic".

Although the terms "intestinal spasms" and "abdominal colic" seem technical, they make people think that this is a serious illness that needs to be diagnosed and treated. In fact, it is currently believed to be a behavioral syndrome with no definite cause and no universally applicable treatment.

The baby cannot calm down after breastfeeding. He starts crying shrilly as soon as the feeding is over, or continues crying shrilly after sleeping for about half an hour.

He cried miserably, his legs were pulled toward his abdomen, and his body seemed to be in great discomfort.

Every time you try to comfort him, it's not very effective. It only lasts for a minute or two at most, and then he starts crying again.

When the shrill crying stopped for a moment, his body was still shaking.

The whole crying process lasts at least one hour or even three or four hours.

The same thing happens at the same time every day and never at other times.

It's not the baby's fault, and it's not your fault either.

In fact, we all want to know very much why babies who are very well-behaved during the day become so anxious and restless at this particular age and time period. Although medical experts have conducted a lot of research on this in recent years, the cause has not yet been clarified.

The advice most pediatricians can give you is: for breastfed babies, try to adjust the mother's diet and remove foods that are prone to cause allergies, such as dairy products; for formula-fed babies, try changing to other brands, or even switching to hydrolyzed or amino acid formula; try using simethicone for your baby.

If these suggestions don't work for your baby, I advise you not to look for folk remedies everywhere. If there really is a good medicine for your baby, the doctors and friends around you would have told you long ago.

Adjust your mood and take various feasible measures

Crying is a signal that the baby is uncomfortable, but this signal is vague. It only indicates that a problem exists, but it does not directly explain what the problem is or how serious the problem is. Sometimes, parents really need to rely on their intuition to know how to make their baby feel more comfortable.

Although there is no medical cure for colic, we should still find ways to deal with it proactively. In recent years, many studies have found that babies who are ignored by adults when they have "colic" cry much less intensely and frequently than babies who are comforted by adults. Mothers who have actual experience may also understand this deeply. So, if you also think that your comfort can significantly reduce the baby's pain, then you should actively do it.
