Symptoms of high back tension in babies

Symptoms of high back tension in babies

Every change in the baby after birth is watched by the mother. Because many new mothers do not understand the baby's growth and development very well, sometimes their judgment of the baby's physical condition is not very accurate. From birth to adulthood, every day is very difficult for babies, and mothers worry about their babies growing up healthily. Below, we will explain to mothers the symptoms of high back tension in babies, as well as the dangers and treatments.

1. How to confirm whether the baby's muscle tone is increased?

1. Put the baby on the bed, and then pick him up (you can pull him up when the baby is three or four months old). Generally, the baby's head should be raised when he gets up. If the baby's head tilts back or leans to one side, it means that the baby is likely to have increased tension in the neck and back muscles.

2. Put the baby on the bed, with his hands touching the bed when stretched back and also touching the bed when opened outwards. Then cross his hands and hug the chest. In addition, open his hands across the midline of the body and hold his own hands together. If the baby can open his hands easily, it is normal. If the baby has to force to open his hands, it is very likely that the flexor muscle tone is increased.

3. Put the baby on the bed and try to open the baby's feet outwards, the bigger the better. Then pinch the baby's feet with both hands and lift them up, but the buttocks cannot leave the bed. See how high the baby's legs can be lifted. Also, pay attention to the fact that when lifting the legs, the legs must be straight and not bent. If the baby has postures such as inward rotation of the soles of the feet, the baby may have increased calf muscle tone.

2. What to do if muscle tension increases?

1. You can use traditional stretching, gymnastics and massage methods. Although this method has limited effect in combating increased muscle tension, it can also improve the condition.

2. Use the Lebo push-shun massage to target the spastic muscles and corresponding antagonistic muscles with increased muscle tone. This is currently a better method for pathological increased muscle tone. It should be noted that if parents want to massage their baby, it is best to do so under the guidance of a professional doctor to avoid negative effects on the baby due to improper massage.

3. The harm of high muscle tension in infants

The disease of high muscle tone in infants is not common, but once it occurs, it can cause great harm to the child's physical and mental health.

High muscle tone in infants can lead to uneven muscle growth at the mildest level and abnormal walking posture at the worst, such as turning one's feet inward or walking with one's buttocks sticking out. Therefore, abnormal muscle tone should be detected, intervened and treated early. Usually, the condition can be detected through physical examination at 3 months of age, and treatment within 4 months is considered early intervention. Generally, the treatment is effective, improves rapidly, and can completely cure the baby without affecting future motor development. Corrective treatment should be given before the age of one and a half at the latest.

IV. Treatment Methods

1. Treatment method: mainly massage and rehabilitation training, assisted by swimming therapy, electrotherapy, etc. If the brain damage is obvious, acupuncture or cerebrolysin injection should be used for treatment.

2. Home care: Do passive massage exercises for babies every day, including exercises such as raising the arms, raising them horizontally, and crossing them in front of the chest, alternating legs pedaling like a wheel, holding the ankles with the hands to rotate the feet, and pressing the legs and feet against the calves. Be careful to control the strength and be gentle, and avoid using excessive force to avoid hurting the baby's bones. You can play soothing music while practicing to help your baby relax. Regular bathing and swimming for babies have a strong auxiliary relaxation effect.
