How to treat pharyngitis in children

Herpetic pharyngitis is mainly caused by intestinal diseases. Generally, babies suffering from herpetic pharyngitis will have many symptoms. The most common symptoms are fever and ulcers in the throat. Herpetic pharyngitis is mainly a disease caused by respiratory transmission. Babies suffering from herpetic pharyngitis will feel particularly uncomfortable in their mouths. Herpetic pharyngitis is highly contagious, so parents must treat it in time.

How to care for herpetic pharyngitis in children:

1. Herpetic pharyngitis causes obvious oral pain, and most children with the disease refuse to eat. Attention should be paid to nutritional supplements for children. Food should not be overheated and should be light, non-greasy, and nutritious. Intravenous nutritional mixtures can be used when eating is difficult.

2. To prevent secondary infection, use analgesics and antiviral drugs locally, and pay attention to oral hygiene. The utensils used by the sick children must be disinfected with boiling water to avoid infection.

The way to relieve discomfort is to pay attention to oral hygiene and keep your mouth clean. You can gargle with light salt water, apply 10% silver nitrate to the ulcer, or blow throat pills, Bingpengsan, etc. into the throat to relieve sore throat symptoms. Take vitamin C and B orally. Antibiotics are not effective for viral pharyngitis. However, if fever occurs, antibiotics should be given to control secondary bacterial infection.

In addition to sending the child to hospital for treatment in time, attention should also be paid to the following aspects of child care:

Nursing of herpetic pharyngitis in children - isolation, poisoning

Sick children generally need to be isolated for 2 weeks, and the utensils used by the sick children must be disinfected with boiling water to prevent cross infection. There is currently no vaccine for this disease. Because there are many types of enterovirus, the same child may be infected with the disease multiple times.

Home Care:

The utensils used by children should be disinfected and kept separate from those of other children in the house, and they should get enough sleep.

Diet care:

1. Drink enough water, eat less meals, eat more vegetables, and do not eat ice cream or drink beverages.

2. Pay attention to keeping the diet light. Children with high fever should drink more water and eat small meals frequently.

3. Eat more nutritious and easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid foods, such as milk, rice porridge, and some vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins.

4. Eat less fried or greasy food as possible, and avoid irritating food such as sour, sweet, spicy, salty, hot, hard, etc. Pay special attention not to eat overheated or overcold food to avoid irritating the ulcerated area in the mouth and causing pain.

5. You can take appropriate amounts of mung beans, bitter gourd, coix seeds, rice, etc. to cook porridge or soup, let it cool down, and give the child an appropriate amount to drink.

2. Western Medicine

1. Treatment:

Pay attention to oral hygiene and keep your mouth clean. You can gargle with light salt water, apply 10% silver nitrate to the ulcer, or blow throat pills, Bingpengsan, etc. into the throat to relieve sore throat symptoms. Take vitamin C and B orally. 1. Treatment of primary disease.

2. Local treatment

1) Use compound borax solution, normal saline or 3% hydrogen peroxide for gargling; apply 2% chloramphenicol glycerol or 1% gentian violet to the lesion area to promote the healing of the ulcer surface.

2) Get enough rest, drink plenty of water, eat more fresh vegetables and nutritious and easily digestible foods to enhance your body's resistance.

3) To prevent secondary infection and shorten the course of the disease, penicillin, gentamicin, etc. can be injected intramuscularly. For patients with severe systemic symptoms, antibiotics are often given intravenously in combination with hormones. For example, 8 million U of penicillin combined with 240,000 U of gentamicin and 5 mg of dexamethasone intravenously, or 6-8 g of cefazolin combined with 0.48 g of amikacin and 5 mg of dexamethasone intravenously, have good therapeutic effects and generally no complications. Children should use a reduced dosage.

2. Prognosis:

Most cases are mild and self-limited (1 to 2 weeks). The prognosis of this disease is good.
