Why is the child's buttocks red?

Why is the child's buttocks red?

A child's red buttocks may be a symptom of diaper dermatitis. Many children suffer from diaper dermatitis due to various reasons. When this problem occurs, it must be treated in time, otherwise it will have a great impact on the child's skin health and even private health. Next, I will introduce you to some relevant knowledge about diaper dermatitis!

  1. Causes

Baby diapers are not changed frequently or washed properly, resulting in long-term contact and irritation to the baby's skin; diapers are hard in texture, causing local friction and causing problems. Aggravated by secondary bacterial or candidal infection.

2. Clinical manifestations

Large, clearly demarcated erythema, papules or erosions with exudate may occur in the diaper area, and may even lead to secondary bacterial or candidal infections. In severe cases, especially in malnourished infants with chronic diarrhea, skin ulcers may occur.

3. Inspection

1. Medical history

Diaper changes, feeding factors, diaper dyes, and more.

2. Physical examination

The skin is rough and red. In severe cases, there are skin lesions such as macules, papules and small pustules, accompanied by exudation and abrasion.

IV. Treatment

The key to treating diaper dermatitis is to keep the baby's vulva and buttocks skin dry and clean. Diapers are made from old white sheets that are highly absorbent and soft, and should be washed and changed frequently. Do not use floral fabrics containing dyes as diapers. Rubber and plastic sheets are neither absorbent nor breathable. Do not place these items under the baby or wrap them outside the diaper. After the child urinates or defecates, wash the buttocks with warm water and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Sprinkle a small amount of non-irritating talcum powder on the baby when changing diapers. Rinse the diapers with clean water and wash them thoroughly to remove dirt and residual soap and detergent on the diapers. Dry the diapers in the sun or dry them before use. To reduce the moisture caused by diapers, diapers should be changed frequently, especially in summer, and diapers with strong absorbency should be used. If a child who is wearing diapers has redness on the buttocks, apply a mixture of boric acid, zinc oxide and talcum powder or children's prickly heat powder. When there is erosion and exudation, first apply a wet compress with 3% boric acid solution, and then apply zinc oxide oil or calamine lotion containing antibiotics after the water flow stops.
