What are the symptoms of internal heat in children?

From a clinical perspective, the most obvious symptoms of internal heat in children are excessive eye discharge, bad breath, red and swollen throat and pain, dry and red lips, red tongue, geographic tongue, dry and hard stools, etc. If these adverse phenomena are not effectively treated for a long time, the condition will become more and more serious and may even endanger health. The best way to deal with this disease is to adjust your diet and eat more heat-reducing foods. Pork, pears, mulberries, milk, etc. are all good choices.

1. Excessive eye mucus

Excessive eye mucus indicates that the child has developed internal heat.

2. Heavy breath

Heavy breath indicates that the child's stomach fire has formed. At this time, the child often has trouble eating because the internal heat affects his appetite. Another child likes to drink cold drinks because he has a hot stomach.

3. Redness, swelling and pain in the throat

Some children can describe their sore throat. If they cannot, parents can observe and let the child open his mouth and scream, then shine a flashlight on it. If the "palatal area" in the throat is red, it means the throat is red and swollen.

4. Dry and red lips

Many children's lips are very red, as if they were covered with lipstick, and they are also dry and lose their moisture. At this time, it usually indicates that the child's internal heat has already formed.

5. Red tongue

Ask the child to stick out his tongue. If the color of the tongue is very red, but for some children the entire tongue is not very red, and only the tip of the tongue or the part of the tongue is red, it is a manifestation of getting angry. Another issue is to observe the tongue coating. Generally speaking, a child's tongue coating is very thin. If the child's tongue coating is white or yellow, it means that the child's tongue coating is already thick. Of course, some children will develop oral ulcers, ulcers of the oral mucosa, or ulcers on the tip and body of the tongue after having internal heat. These are all signs of internal heat in children.

6. Tongue becomes a geographic tongue

Some children may develop a peeling tongue when their temper becomes severe. There is a smooth layer in the middle of the tongue coating, and sometimes there is no tongue coating and only the flesh is left. This is called tongue coating exfoliation in traditional Chinese medicine. We figuratively call it geographic tongue, which looks like a map. This means that the child’s internal heat has become quite severe, damaging the lung yin and stomach yin.

7. Dry and hard stool

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "the lungs and large intestine are the exterior and interior of each other" and "if there is no heat inside, there will be no feeling outside." If this happens, it means that the child's internal heat is already quite strong, and it is necessary to adjust and eliminate the internal heat in time.
