What should I do if my baby has a sore throat and repeated high fever?

There are many parents around us who spoil their children too much, which, coupled with some lack of experience, eventually causes their babies to encounter very big troubles. Take some simple diseases for example. When parents find out that their baby is sick, they will panic before others start to panic. So, what is the most correct thing for parents to do when their baby has a sore throat and a high fever?

Controlling inflammation

A baby's sore throat is mostly caused by bacteria or viruses. If the baby has repeated fevers, it is likely that the inflammation has not been completely eliminated. The baby should be hospitalized and treated with antibiotics and antipyretics under the guidance of a doctor. Remember to drink plenty of water and get more rest to promote the excretion of toxins.

Reasonable fever reduction

1. When a child has a fever, a body temperature of 37.5-38℃ is a low fever, 38-39℃ is a moderate fever, and above 39℃ is a high fever. Low fever or moderate fever is beneficial for the body to eliminate invading viruses and bacteria. Parents do not need to rush to use antipyretics. They can use physical cooling methods: lower the room temperature (in summer), take off excess clothes, ensure that the child is in a cool (but not cold) and ventilated environment; drink more boiled water; use warm water or alcohol baths to lower body temperature.

2. If the body temperature reaches above 39 degrees, medication must be taken immediately. Take your child to the doctor promptly and use antipyretics under the doctor's guidance. Because, if high fever persists for too long, many important functions of the body may be disrupted.

Diet

When the baby's throat is inflamed, due to sore throat and difficulty swallowing, the diet should be light, mainly liquid or semi-liquid diet, such as porridge, soy milk, milk, noodles, egg drop soup, vegetable soup, pear juice, radish juice, loofah juice, fresh lotus root juice, etc. Avoid spicy, cold, and irritating foods. You can make tea with wild chrysanthemum, dandelion and Houttuynia cordata, which can help detoxify and clear away heat.

Salt water gargle

Rinse your mouth repeatedly with light salt water or mouthwash before and after meals and before going to bed every day. This can not only wash away the inflammatory secretions in the throat, but also help reduce edema, congestion and pain in the throat, which is beneficial to recovery from the disease.

Pomegranate juice

Pomegranate juice can relieve the pain and discomfort caused by throat inflammation in children. Wash the pomegranate with skin, cut into appropriate sizes, and boil them with water. After boiling, cook for about half an hour and drink the resulting decoction instead of tea.

Improve the environment

There should be enough sunshine time indoors, and windows should be opened frequently to allow air circulation, prevent excessive smoke and dust, and keep the indoor air fresh at all times. The indoor temperature should not change too much. It is best to keep it appropriate and avoid being too dry or too humid. If the temperature is too high and dry, it can easily cause dryness of the nose and throat. If it is too cold and humid, it can easily cause people to catch a cold and cause tonsillitis.
