6-year-old teeth have not fallen out and new teeth have grown

During childhood, we need to replace our teeth. The deciduous teeth fall out to make way for other teeth to grow. Disease treatment

1. The successor permanent teeth have already erupted and the retained deciduous teeth should be extracted.

The retained deciduous teeth in the maxilla must be extracted as early as possible to avoid crossbite of the permanent teeth. If crossbite has already occurred, it must be closely monitored and corrected as soon as possible after the front teeth erupt.

After the retained deciduous teeth in the mandible are extracted, the permanent teeth growing at the back will adjust to their normal position by themselves. If the teeth are not aligned properly due to crowding, they should be observed and corrected at a later date according to the condition of the dentition after the teeth are replaced.

Due to insufficient root absorption, retained deciduous teeth in the mandible may break their roots during extraction. Since the remaining roots are close to the roots of the inherited permanent teeth, no treatment is required. The remaining roots will be absorbed by themselves or excreted from the body with the eruption of the permanent teeth.

2. Retained deciduous teeth due to congenital loss of inherited permanent teeth may not be treated. However, it is necessary to closely observe retained deciduous teeth, actively prevent the occurrence of caries, and try to delay the time of tooth loss. If teeth are lost, space management should be performed based on the tooth arrangement.

Precautions

During the period of tooth replacement, loose teeth may cause discomfort to children. Parents should warn their children not to pull or shake their teeth with their hands. They should take their children to the hospital for regular check-ups. If retained deciduous teeth occur, they should be removed as soon as possible to avoid abnormal eruption position of permanent teeth. Parents should also warn children not to lick or pry out permanent teeth that are in the wrong position with their fingers, so as to avoid forming other bad oral habits and adversely affecting the establishment of bite and relationship.
