Friends who have babies at home should have discovered such a problem: the neck of a three-month-old baby will tilt to one side when sleeping. Many parents do not pay much attention to this. This is not right. It may be a precursor to some disease and special attention should be paid. For example: inflammation of the cervical lymph nodes, neck injury, etc., these situations need to be corrected in a timely manner. Here is what to do if your three-month-old baby's neck tilts to one side when sleeping? 1. Corrective measures: First of all, observe more and detect flat head syndrome early. Always observe the left and right sides, front and back sides of the baby's head. When it is less than 6 mm, it can be corrected normally as long as the sleeping position is changed frequently. When it is between 6 mm and 12 mm, it is moderate flat head syndrome and treatment is recommended. If it exceeds 12 mm, treatment should be carried out immediately. Generally speaking, when we observe with the naked eye that the baby's head is tilted when sleeping, the baby's flat head syndrome asymmetry has exceeded 6 mm, and we should consider artificial correction. Secondly, early prevention can prevent your baby from suffering from flat head syndrome. You can use artificial methods, such as changing the baby's sleeping position frequently, not letting him stare at his favorite direction for a long time, and teasing him more when you have time. You can also use a more convenient and effective method, such as using an Anqu baby posture-correcting mattress, to establish the correct sleeping position for the baby as soon as he is born, so that the head is evenly pressurized and the occurrence of flat head syndrome is prevented. It is important to prevent and correct your baby's flat head syndrome as early as possible, generally within 6 months. Otherwise, once the baby's skull is fully developed, it will not be able to recover on its own. Second, the reason: 1. Habitual head posture According to research surveys, Oriental women are on average petite with relatively small pelvic cavities, but the average weight of our newborns is not inferior to that in Europe and the United States. Therefore, it is conceivable that in the late pregnancy, the rapidly growing fetus in the mother's belly gradually lacks sufficient space to stretch, and the big head tends to lean to one side, forming a habitual posture, which is often accompanied by facial asymmetry due to long-term uneven pressure. (ii) There is a lump on one side of the neck This is a more familiar cause of torticollis. Its cause is unknown. It is speculated that the sternocleidomastoid muscle on one side of the neck may be compressed and injured before delivery, resulting in a hematoma, which then healed on its own to form a lump, tightening the muscle and restricting the free rotation of the head. Some scholars also speculate that the injury to the sternocleidomastoid muscle occurred during the delivery process. Regardless of the cause, babies with neck lumps sometimes have symptoms such as facial asymmetry, crooked chin, scoliosis, shoulder deformity, and are more likely to have oligohydramnios. (III) Cervical lymphadenitis It is usually easier to see in older children and less common in babies. However, if this happens, swollen and painful lymph nodes can be felt on one or both sides of the neck. It may be single or multiple, clustered together. Injury or inflammation and suppuration can often be found in nearby parts or organs, such as boils on the head and face, purulent tooth decay, etc. 4. Unbalanced vision between the two eyes Poor vision or amblyopia in one eye, severe strabismus, cataracts in one eye, etc. can all cause babies to look at things with their heads not straight. If this happens, parents should observe carefully to detect it early so that the child can receive correction as soon as possible. (V) Neck sprain or injury If you have a stiff neck or are shaken improperly, causing damage to the neck muscles, or if you are too painful to turn your neck, your head may tilt to one side. |
