What kind of milk is not suitable for children

Milk is a food we are very familiar with. It is rich in nutritional value. Drinking milk regularly has many benefits to your health. In particular, many parents like to give their children some milk, and they feel that drinking milk is very helpful for their children's growth and development. There are many dairy products on the market now, which makes parents not know how to choose and also don’t know which dairy products are not suitable for children.

Reconstituted milk

"Reconstituted milk" refers to concentrated milk or milk powder formed by concentrating and drying milk two or three times at high temperature. As long as the right amount of water is added, it can be made into an emulsion similar to the original milk. However, the nutritional content of reconstituted milk is extremely low compared to fresh milk, and in order to ensure the taste, a large amount of flavors and sugar are often added, making it not suitable for nutritional supplements for children.

When parents choose milk for their children, it is best to choose pasteurized milk, which does not contain reconstituted milk and has greatly retained its nutritional value. However, parents should note that this type of milk has a short shelf life and must be consumed immediately after purchase.

Lactic acid bacteria

In addition to fresh milk, lactic acid bacteria drinks are also the "favorites" of many children. Many parents believe that this type of beverage contains a large amount of active lactic acid bacteria, which can promote children's absorption, and they are willing to buy it for their children. But in fact, it is difficult for you to buy real "lactic acid bacteria".

Lactic acid bacteria can only be stored at low temperatures of 2℃~6℃, and most of their active factors can only be maintained for a few days. Therefore, although many lactic acid bacteria beverages have not exceeded their shelf life, the beneficial bacteria are almost gone over time.

Moreover, many yogurt or lactic acid bacteria packages on the market have the word "beverage" on them. In order to create a sweet and sour taste, many companies add a lot of sugar to lactic acid bacteria beverages. Even if it is a low-sugar beverage, drinking too much will lead to excessive sugar intake.

Therefore, if you want your children to consume more beneficial intestinal bacteria, making some low-sugar yogurt at home is a good choice.

Breakfast milk

Walk into any supermarket and we can see a wide variety of breakfast milks. Breakfast milk is a common item on many family tables. This type of drink seems to be nutritious, and many businesses also use the slogan "breakfast milk can replace all the nutrients children need for breakfast." But in fact, most breakfast milk is flavored milk, which contains many additives and very little grain content.

If you want to supplement your child with cereal nutrition, it is best to wait until the child is one year old to make sure they are no longer prone to allergies, and then slowly add some cooked cereal to the milk.

Fruit milk

Many children cannot accept the fishy smell of pure milk, so some parents want to use sweet and sour fruit milk instead of pure milk to supplement their children's nutrition. However, in order to pursue the taste, most fruit milk drinks are made by diluting milk and adding a large amount of sugar and edible flavors. The calories of these milks are generally higher than ordinary pure milk, but the nutritional value is far inferior. It's okay to drink it occasionally, but long-term excessive intake of sugar and flavors will have adverse effects on children's bodies.

Children's milk

Fruit milk doesn’t work, breakfast milk doesn’t work, and lactic acid bacteria milk doesn’t work, so “children’s milk” designed specifically for children must be suitable for children to drink, right? Not really! Many children's milks on the market use the gimmick of being rich in nutrients such as DHA and ARA, but in fact they are just ordinary milk with a lot of sugar, flavors and other additives added. Not only will children not get any nutrition from drinking these milk drinks for a long time, but the sweet taste will easily affect their appetite if they drink too much.

Milk tablets and other dairy snacks

Since you don’t like drinking milk, you can always give your child milk tablets, right? As "solid milk", milk tablets have high nutritional value and can be eaten as candy. They are perfect for supplementing children's nutrition. But the prerequisite is that the food you feed your baby must be "real milk tablets"!

Most of the milk tablets on the market are actually junk food. There are similar snacks such as cheese slices, dried yogurt, milk balls, etc. If you look at their ingredient lists, you will find that their main ingredients are milk powder, white sugar, flavors and non-dairy creamer. Some milk slices even contain a large amount of trans fatty acids, which are standard features of junk food. Eating too much of them is not only harmful to children's physical health, but also affects their intellectual development.
