How to clean children's oily ears?

If a child has oily ears, they must be cleaned properly, otherwise it will cause damage to the ears and affect hearing. First of all, when cleaning children's oily ears, you should not use too much force, and keep the ears clean. If the cleaning is not done well, it will easily lead to excessive accumulation of oil and fat and cause blockage, which will affect the child's hearing.

1. Do not pick your nose hard or use excessive force when blowing your snot.

2. Pay attention to the prevention and timely treatment of inflammation of organs around the Eustachian tube, such as rhinitis, nasopharyngitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, etc., to prevent bacteria from these parts from spreading to the Eustachian tube.

3. Pay attention to keeping the ears clean and prevent eardrum trauma. People with unhealed eardrum trauma or old perforations should not swim. Avoid dirty water from entering the ears when bathing or swimming.

4. Otitis media is a major cause of deafness and dumbness in infants and young children, so regular vaccinations are necessary, and attention should be paid to physical exercise from an early age, more outdoor activities, more sunlight, to promote metabolism, and enhance physical fitness and disease resistance.

5. When the weather is cold or the climate changes drastically, pay attention to keeping warm and prevent upper respiratory tract infections.

6. There is often pus flowing out of the ear, so be sure to clean the pus in the ear regularly. The specific method is: pull the auricle backward and downward, and push the tragus forward at the same time to straighten and open the external auditory canal, and then gently clean it with a sterilized cotton swab.

7. Before taking a bath or washing your hair, plug both ear holes with sterilized cotton balls to prevent dirty water from entering the ears. Also, avoid diving or swimming to prevent hearing loss due to a ruptured eardrum.

8. The diet should be light, easy to digest, and nutritious. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. Avoid spicy foods such as wine, onions, garlic, etc. to prevent internal heat and toxins.

In normal times, you can also eat more foods that clear away heat and eliminate toxins, such as honeysuckle dew, mung bean soup, etc.

If oily ears are not serious, you just need to pay attention to hygiene and cleaning. However, if too much oily substance accumulates, it will block the external auditory canal and affect the transmission of sound waves. It can cause hearing loss, tinnitus and ear discomfort. This is called cerumen embolism and requires treatment. You can use a cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide, alcohol or boric acid alcohol to gently wipe the secretions from the external auditory canal.
