What to do if your child stutters?

In daily life, we often hear some mothers complain that their children cannot speak clearly and have some slight stuttering, which makes mothers very worried. Because they all know clearly that those who stutter will encounter many obstacles in both their work life and their emotional life. So what should we do if children stutter? In response to this question raised by everyone, I would like to invite my friends to share with me in the following time.

When a child suddenly starts stuttering while learning to speak, there are two possibilities. One is that he sees others stuttering and imitates them. In this process, repeating words will make him feel that he can express his wishes more completely by slowing down his speech speed, so he prefers to speak in this way. The other is that the child's thinking develops faster than his language expression ability, so he cannot fully express what he thinks, resulting in stuttering. For these two reasons, parents should not correct their children's way of speaking too arbitrarily. Criticism and accusations will discourage children's enthusiasm for expressing their emotions through words, thus creating barriers to language communication.

Suggestion: For the first case, keep him away from people who stutter to reduce the influence of role models. At the same time, try to slow down his speech. Teach him some simple nursery rhymes and let him become proficient in reading them. Through successful reading, he can build up confidence in correcting his stuttering. If the child has a severe stutter, ask him to sing more nursery rhymes, which is also a way to correct stuttering. When you encounter the second situation, don't worry too much, because you should see that this is a manifestation of the rapid development of children's thinking. You should take advantage of the situation. During the child's description and expression, we should carefully understand the child's original intention. When he stutters, you should immediately help him to continue the words that he has not said yet, and then ask him to repeat it again. For example, the same 2-year-old child wants his mother to put together a puzzle with him. The child who is unwilling to talk may pull you in front of the puzzle and say that he wants you to do it with him; the child who is willing to talk will clearly tell you to do the puzzle with him;

I believe that with the above sharing by all of us, our friends will have their own unique insights and more proficient grasp of how to deal with children's stuttering. Of course, I would like to remind everyone that when children begin to learn to speak, we must make them speak more fluently and smoothly. Once stuttering occurs, it must be corrected immediately to avoid more stuttering problems.
