How to treat scrotal eczema in children

Scrotal eczema is a common phenomenon in children because many parents put diapers on their children, especially in hot summer. If there is no ventilation, it is easy for bacteria and viruses to breed, leading to the symptoms of scrotal eczema. The most typical one is the growth of many small bumps on the genitals. Let us now understand what to do about scrotal eczema in children?

1. Medication

Since scrotal eczema is related to allergies like eczema in other parts of the body, medications used to treat allergies can be used to treat scrotal eczema. For example, some commonly used antihistamines include cyproheptadine, chlorpheniramine, loratadine, cetirizine, etc. Topical medications are mainly some weak corticosteroid ointments, such as triamcinolone ointment.

2. Scrotal care

Avoid re-irritating the area, avoid scratching the area with your hands as much as possible, do not use hot water or soapy water to clean the area, and do not apply highly irritating drugs locally. Pay special attention to not applying hormone drugs locally casually, as these can easily worsen or relapse the disease. Avoid eating some irritating foods, such as onions, ginger, garlic, strong tea, coffee, alcohol and other foods and drugs that are prone to cause allergies.

The above is the treatment method for scrotal eczema in children. Scrotal eczema must be taken seriously, as it will affect the future development of the child’s genitals because it will be accompanied by itching symptoms. But children will scratch it, so parents should tell their children not to let them scratch it when they are old, as this will make the situation more serious.
