What to do if your child's anus is red

What to do if your child's anus is red

If a child's anus appears red, this is quite common among infants and young children, and there are many causes. For example, if parents do not change their children's diapers frequently, it will often cause the child's skin to become infected and allergic to urine, causing redness and swelling of the anus. After all, children's skin is relatively delicate and can easily cause such harm. Of course, if parents observe their children and find that they urinate and defecate very frequently, they should be alert because it may be caused by gastroenteritis, which can easily cause such symptoms. At this time, it can be treated with certain anti-inflammatory drugs.

1. Apply erythromycin eye ointment or cream.

When applying the medicine topically, be careful not to move the cotton swab up and down to avoid aggravating the child's pain or even causing peeling. Instead, use a rolling application method. Or you can use your fingertips to gently rub the ointment evenly and massage the baby's buttocks at the same time.

2. Talcum powder

After applying the ointment, apply some talcum powder on the baby. It is effective and can make the baby feel drier. Be careful not to rub talcum powder around the baby's urethra to avoid causing discomfort. Don't use too much each time, just rub some evenly around the anus.

3. Apply hot compress with a hot towel.

Soak the towel in hot water for a while, wring it dry and apply it around the baby's anus when it is no longer hot. Apply it for about 5 minutes. Do hot compress 3-5 times a day for a week and the redness and swelling of the baby's anus will be significantly reduced.

4. Clean your baby’s buttocks frequently.

The baby's anus is red and uncomfortable, so you should clean the baby's buttocks in time, especially after defecation. Remember to use warm water and wash from the urethra to the anus to avoid infection. After washing, it is best to let it dry for a while and then wipe it clean with a clean cotton mesh cloth.

5. Use diapers that are more breathable or absorbent

Or use it as little as possible. Pure cotton diapers can be used instead, which are less irritating to baby's skin.

In general, a baby's anus is red due to getting angry or diarrhea. Babies with red and painful anus are prone to crying, so timely measures should be taken to relieve the redness and swelling. Better methods include applying some erythromycin eye ointment or ointment, applying a hot towel, using talcum powder, and washing the buttocks frequently. Let me explain in detail below.
