What are the treatments for hernia in children?

Hernia in children generally refers to the appearance of gas caused by organ displacement. When such gas remains in the body and cannot be eliminated, it is called hernia. To treat pediatric hernia, it depends on the type of hernia. Treatment of hernia in children

Congenital inguinal hernia is caused by the failure of the processus vaginalis to close after birth. The processus vaginalis may close within 2 years after birth, which means that "intestinal hernia" may heal itself. During this period, non-surgical treatment can be performed first, using a hernia belt to mechanically compress the hernia ring in the inguinal area, prevent the hernia from prolapse, and give the developing abdominal muscles a chance to strengthen the abdominal wall. During non-surgical treatment, the following points should be noted:

(1) Children with hernia should try to avoid and reduce crying, coughing, constipation, anger, strenuous exercise, etc.

(2) Hernia patients should take good rest and, if they fall, gently push the hernia back into the abdominal cavity with their hands.

(3) Hernia patients should try to reduce running, standing, and squatting for long periods of time, and should lie down and rest when appropriate.

(4) Hernia patients should increase their nutrition appropriately. They can eat some foods that have the effect of replenishing qi, such as lentils, yam, chicken, eggs, fish, meat, etc.

(5) Older children with hernia should exercise appropriately to strengthen their physical fitness.

(6) If the child is found to be crying repeatedly for no reason, parents should check whether the child has an incarcerated hernia. Once hernia incarceration is discovered, take your child to a regular hospital for emergency treatment immediately.
