What to do if children have conjunctivitis?

Conjunctivitis is an eye disease. If you suffer from conjunctivitis, you may experience symptoms such as burning sensation in the eyes, foreign body sensation, easy secretion of foreign matter, easy tearing, and red eyes. There are many reasons for conjunctivitis in children: low immunity leading to virus invasion, rubbing the eyes with hands at will, etc. can cause conjunctivitis in children. Conjunctivitis should be treated promptly, otherwise it will cause more serious consequences.

1. Treatment of conjunctivitis in children:

1. Find out the cause

Take your baby to the hospital and carefully find out the cause during the diagnosis and treatment process. Once you know the cause of your baby's eye disease, you should immediately avoid contact with it and stop the stimulation of allergens.

2. Prepare special towels.

Towels and handkerchiefs used by babies should be kept separate and boiled in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes after each use.

3. Apply cold compress to eyes.

Use a cool towel or cold water bag to apply cold compress to your baby's eyes, and avoid hot compress, because hot compress will increase the local temperature and dilate blood vessels, resulting in increased secretions and worsening symptoms.

4. Use eye drops.

When putting eye drops in your baby's eye, you must first comfort the baby and let the baby lie on his back with his face upwards, so that the eye drops can stay in the conjunctiva for a while. In addition, the gaps in the conjunctiva are very small, making it difficult for eye drops to stay. Plus, the eyelids keep blinking, so the eye drops can only stay for a short time. So you must apply eye drops as often as your doctor tells you to, and don't reduce the frequency without authorization. Only in this way can the eye drops work. In order to avoid affecting the baby's vision, it is usually necessary to apply eye drops to the baby before going to bed.

2. Precautions for children with conjunctivitis:

1. Patients with conjunctivitis should avoid eating spicy and hot foods such as onions, leeks, garlic, peppers, mutton, dog meat, etc.

2. Do not use public towels and washbasins. The patient's towels, handkerchiefs and washbasins should be used separately and boiled and disinfected after use to avoid further infection.

3. Do not let the mouth of the eye drops bottle touch the diseased eye or secretions to avoid cross infection.

4. Patients with conjunctivitis should not eat seafood that has a fishy smell, such as fermented glutinous rice, shepherd's purse, Chinese mustard, elephant fish, shark, hairtail, yellow croaker, eel, shrimp, crab, etc.

5. Amaranthus, wolfberry leaves, wild rice stem, winter melon, bitter melon, mung bean, chrysanthemum brain, banana, watermelon, etc. have the effects of clearing heat, removing dampness and detoxifying, and can be used as auxiliary treatment for conjunctivitis.
