Treatment of dacryocystitis in children

Treatment of dacryocystitis in children

If a child has any disease, many parents are at a loss. They don't know what's wrong with the child, nor do they know why the child loves to cry. The main cause of a child's dacryocystitis is that the child keeps crying, as if the child is crying. Many parents think that this symptom of the child is closely related to the child's crying. In fact, they don't know that the child has dacryocystitis. So how should a child with dacryocystitis be treated?

Parents should not be afraid if their baby has neonatal dacryocystitis. For most babies, the tear duct will develop unobstructed within a period of time after birth and will heal without treatment. Only less than 6% of babies will still have obstruction in the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct for a period of time after birth and need gradual treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

Step 1: Conservative treatment is recommended first. Apply antibiotic eye drops (such as Tobrex eye drops, chloramphenicol eye drops) locally and massage the lacrimal sac area. This can clear the secretions stored in the tear duct, fight bacteria and reduce inflammation. Through the pressure of massage, the thin film blocking the lower end of the nasolacrimal duct can rupture on its own, the tear duct becomes unobstructed, and the epiphora is cured.

Step 2: If the symptoms are not relieved after the above-mentioned conservative treatment period, you can take your baby to the hospital. Some babies can be cured by pressurized tear duct flushing to break the membrane in the lower part of the nasolacrimal duct.

Step 3: If the above two treatment methods are ineffective, babies around 4 months old can go to the hospital for tear duct probing surgery, which uses a baby-specific tear duct probe to puncture the membrane to make the tear duct unobstructed.

After the above treatment, most

Neonatal dacryocystitis

It can be cured, but there are a very small number of children who have bony tear duct stenosis, or even are born without tear ducts or have some congenital diseases. These complex tear duct blockages require experienced doctors to develop more complex individualized tear duct surgeries to complete.

Children's dacryocystitis has a great impact and harm on their eyes. Be sure to remember to treat this dacryocystitis in time. When treating children for dacryocystitis, you must keep the children warm every morning, especially in winter, to avoid letting the children's eyes be blown by cold wind. If blown by cold wind, the child's dacryocystitis will worsen.
