Why does my baby have a stuffy nose at night?

Why does my baby have a stuffy nose at night?

The baby's immune system has not yet fully developed, and any adverse conditions will cause symptoms such as nasal congestion, such as crowded living environment, poor air circulation in the room, insufficient sunlight, etc. In addition, cold weather and humid air can also cause nasal congestion.

1. Why does the baby have a stuffy nose at night?

Children's immune and respiratory systems are not fully developed. If children lack physical exercise or suffer from malnutrition, rickets, or live in a crowded environment with poor ventilation, polluted air, and insufficient sunlight, they are prone to upper respiratory tract infections. If they are exposed to cold, damp and other stimuli, which cause nasal mucosal vasomotor dysfunction, they may also develop upper respiratory tract infections. You should choose milk powder that can enhance your baby's immunity and choose some big brands.

2. Treatment Methods

1) Fry the ginger slices until dry and tie them to the soles of the baby's feet. This method may be better if the baby has a runny nose.

2) For babies with nasal congestion, there is a proven recipe to relieve the symptoms and open up the orifices: squeeze 50-100 ml of breast milk into a small bowl, take 1-2 scallions (with roots), wash them and put them into the milk, steam them in water for 5-10 minutes, take them out when you smell the scallion fragrance, and feed them to the baby with a small spoon after they have cooled down. It has the effects of dispelling exterior pathogens, opening the orifices, treating colds, and eliminating nasal congestion.

3) Filling method: Mash the scallion whites and extract its juice to soak into cotton wool, then stuff the cotton wool into the nostrils. Alternatively, cut a garlic clove into a cylinder slightly smaller than the nostrils, wrap it with a thin layer of cotton or gauze and stuff it into the nostrils. This also has a good effect.

3. Quick treatment for nasal congestion

It is not uncommon for babies to have a stuffy nose when sleeping at night. But this is no small problem. For different types of nasal congestion, mothers can adopt different quick treatment methods. The specific types of nasal congestion and treatment methods are as follows. If the baby has a stuffy nose due to a cold, mothers can use a warm, wet towel to place on the baby's nose as a hot compress. Be careful not to make the towel too hot to avoid scalding the baby's skin. You can apply hot compress twice a day, each time for about 15 minutes.

Acute sinusitis and nasal congestion. If your baby accidentally suffers from this disease, you must actively treat it. In case of acute sinusitis, mothers should take their babies to the ENT department for examination immediately. According to the doctor's instructions, they should choose antibiotics for their babies reasonably to completely cure sinusitis and avoid recurrence of the disease.

If the baby's nasal congestion is very severe, mothers can use 0.5% ephedrine furacillin drops for the baby according to the doctor's instructions, but this drug must be used with caution. You should apply one drop to each nostril 10 to 15 minutes before feeding, and your nose will be unblocked after a few minutes. However, ephedrine can have side effects on children, so it should not be used for a long time or in excess to avoid causing atrophic rhinitis and affecting the sense of smell.
