What are the symptoms of baby pink eye?

In fact, babies are very susceptible to conjunctivitis, especially children under five years old are extremely susceptible to infection. They usually have symptoms such as itchy eyes, fear of light, tears, or excessive eye mucus. Therefore, we should also pay attention to prevention in life, especially when children are in kindergarten, they should avoid infection.

1. Pink eye often breaks out in spring and autumn. It has an acute onset and is highly contagious. Children under 5 years old are especially susceptible to infection. The Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds all kindergartens and parents to strictly prevent individual sick children from bringing pathogens into school, which would cause outbreaks and epidemics of conjunctivitis in collective groups such as schools and nurseries.

2. The main clinical characteristics of conjunctivitis are that both eyes are affected successively. After the onset of the disease, the eyes are obviously red, the eyelids are swollen, itchy, afraid of light, tearful, and have a lot of eye mucus, but it generally does not affect vision. If the pink eye is caused by a viral infection, the symptoms are more obvious, including: massive conjunctival hemorrhage, enlarged and tender anterior lymph nodes, corneal invasion and eye pain, slightly blurred vision, and a slow recovery.

3. Pink eye is a common acute epidemic conjunctivitis caused by bacterial or filterable viral infection, which often breaks out in spring and autumn. Disease control experts explained that conjunctivitis can only be transmitted through direct or indirect contact, often through contact with the patient's eye secretions or objects used by the patient. Shaking hands with a conjunctivitis patient or rubbing the eyes with dirty hands can also cause infection.

4. Pink eye is highly contagious. As long as healthy eyes come into contact with things contaminated by the patient's eye mucus or tears, such as towels, handkerchiefs, washbasins, books, toys, door handles, coins, etc., they will be infected and the disease will occur after a few hours or within 1-2 days. Babies are naturally active. If parents neglect preventive measures, one child's illness will quickly spread to the entire family or kindergarten.
