Tips for removing baby's earwax, parents should pay attention

Earwax is a kind of secretion from the ear canal. Since babies cannot dig out earwax by themselves, mothers need to help their babies clean their ear canals. But if the earwax is oily, how should mothers help their babies dig out oily earwax? Now I will teach mothers some tips on how to remove oily earwax from their babies.

1. If the earwax in the baby's ears can be seen with the naked eye and is not very hard, you can roll up a wet towel, slowly put it into the baby's ear and rotate it to turn the earwax out. But the premise is to ensure that the baby will not move around.

2. Prepare a cotton ball dipped in disinfectant and put it into the baby's ear when the baby is asleep. Rotate the cotton ball after about 2-3 hours and take it out after a while. This way, some earwax will be stuck on the cotton ball and brought out. This method has less impact on the baby's ears.

3. Unless there are special circumstances, parents should avoid using cotton swabs or sharp objects to clean the baby's earwax, because the ear canal of a baby is much shorter than that of an adult, and it is difficult for parents to perceive and control it. If the baby feels uncomfortable in the ear, it is still necessary to go to a specialized pediatrician.

What should I do with my baby’s earwax?

Step 1: Use a clean cotton swab to scoop out an amount of Vaseline, about the size of a red bean.

Step 2: Put Vaseline on the back of your hand, use the residual warmth of a cotton swab to spread it, and evenly apply it on the cotton swab.

Step 3: Gently apply Vaseline to three places where dirt and grime are most likely to hide, and wait for 2-3 minutes. (Adult cotton swabs can be used to apply to large areas far from the inner ear)

Step 4: After three minutes, the Vaseline will soften the hard earwax. Use a thin cotton swab to gently pick it out in a rotating motion.
