What causes cerebral palsy? Does pregnancy have anything to do with it?

Nowadays, the incidence of cerebral palsy in children is getting higher and higher. The main factor causing this disease may be that women do not have good living habits during pregnancy, or some accidents may occur during the delivery process. If the child is not well taken care of after birth and suffers brain damage, brain infection can also induce cerebral palsy.

Causes of cerebral palsy in children

1. Factors during pregnancy: During pregnancy, any factors that cause fetal ischemia and hypoxia can cause fetal brain damage, such as intrauterine infection; pregnant women suffering from severe hypertension, hypotension, diabetes, smoking and improper medication, etc.; Rh blood type incompatibility between pregnant women and fetuses; genetic factors, such as maternal mental retardation and close relatives history, are all high-risk factors for cerebral palsy in children.

2. Factors during delivery: ⑴ Dystocia: can cause head injury, intracranial hematoma, etc. in the baby; ⑵ Premature birth: premature babies are small in weight and incomplete in development, and are more prone to hypoxia and intracranial injury; ⑶ Neonatal asphyxia. If the baby does not breathe at birth or the abuse of hormones to induce labor is used, the baby may suffer brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

3. Causes after birth ⑴ Kernicterus in infants. Can cause brain damage due to abnormal bilirubin metabolism;

⑵ Brain infection such as meningitis, encephalitis, etc.; ⑶ Head trauma or intracranial hemorrhage; ⑷ High fever caused by infection or severe diarrhea causing severe dehydration.

Treatment of cerebral palsy:

1. Comprehensive treatment uses various effective means to provide comprehensive and diversified comprehensive treatment for children. In addition to treating movement disorders, intervention is also required for concurrent language disorders, mental retardation, epilepsy, and abnormal behavior. It is also necessary to cultivate his ability to face daily life, learn to communicate, and engage in a certain profession in the future.

2. Combine family training with doctor's guidance. The rehabilitation of cerebral palsy in children is a long process, and short-term hospitalization cannot achieve good results.

3. Early detection and early treatment. The motor system of infants and young children is in the development stage. Early detection and correction of movement abnormalities can easily achieve better results.

4. Promote normal motor development, inhibit abnormal movements and postures. Conduct functional training according to the laws of children's motor development, and gradually encourage children to make correct movements.
