Children with autism have many obstacles in their performance!

Autism can be said to be a mental illness, and infants and young children are a high-risk group for autism. Children with autism mainly show impairments in many aspects. One of the biggest difficulties patients face is social communication barriers. Children will have more stereotyped and repetitive symptoms in language and behavior.

1. Language development disorder

It is one of the most prominent manifestations of this disease. After children become ill, their language generally decreases gradually, and in severe cases, it is completely lacking. Children with this disorder have a low ability to understand language, and often have abnormal language such as stereotypes, repetitions, imitations, and misuse of pronouns (especially using "you" instead of "I" when referring to themselves). Children with this disorder lack abstract concepts, and their thinking processes tend to be compulsive, limited, and poor, and they lack fantasy and imagination. Children with this disorder are unable to use facial expressions, body movements, posture, and tone of voice to interact with others.

2. Sensory impairment

The children are slow to respond to auditory and visual stimuli, as if they are "blind but not visible" and "deaf but not hearing". He seems not to notice the people or other characters in the surrounding environment, and ignores their words.

3. Intellectual Disability

Children with autism do not have obvious dullness in appearance, but their social adaptability is significantly delayed and they cannot take care of themselves in daily life. Most of them have moderate to severe intellectual disability. A very small number of children with autism may show special abilities in the fields of music, computers, and mechanical memory. A very few children may have insular precocity or special functions, the so-called "idiot savants." Some children have epileptic seizures.

4. Other symptoms

Approximately 20%-40% of children will develop epilepsy before puberty. Some patients develop schizophrenia syndrome in adolescence or early adulthood, such as delusions and hallucinations.
