What are the anti-inflammatory drugs for children's colds?

Children are most likely to develop cold symptoms. Sometimes parents are very worried when they have a cold. After all, children are weak. Once infected by the virus, they will not get better for several days. Taking medicine can treat children's colds very well, but some young parents don't know what anti-inflammatory medicine is effective for their children. There are many anti-inflammatory medicines for children's colds. What kind of medicine can relieve children's cold symptoms?

Tips for taking medicine for children's cold

Cold is a common disease in children and can occur all year round. There are many medicines to treat children's colds, but if used improperly, they will have half the result with twice the effort. How should children take cold medicine correctly?

1. Don’t rush to reduce fever. Fever is a defensive reaction of the body, which is beneficial for eliminating invading germs and promoting the normal growth and development of children. However, if the fever is high (above 39°C), you should reduce the fever under the guidance of a doctor. The best way to reduce fever is physical cooling, such as cold compresses, alcohol baths, etc. If physical methods cannot lower the body temperature, antipyretics can be used in combination. Commonly used antipyretic drugs include: 10%-20% analgin nasal drops, 1-3 drops each time; chlorpheniramine tablets, 0.35 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, orally in 3-4 times; pediatric antipyretic suppositories, half a tablet to 1 tablet each time, inserted into the anus, no more than 3 times a day, and stop using after the fever subsides. Do not use APC (compound aspirin) because APC has an excitatory effect, and the nerve inhibition mechanism of infants and young children is not yet fully developed. If used during high fever, it can easily induce convulsions, cause collapse due to excessive sweating, and even cause jaundice due to the accumulation of free bilirubin in the blood.

2. Don’t use antibiotics casually. Most colds are viral infections, and antibiotics are ineffective against viruses. Commonly used antiviral drugs include:

(1) Triazoside: 10-20 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into 3 doses, or 10-15 mg per kilogram of body weight per day by intramuscular injection or intravenous drip.

(2) Take half a bag of Isatis root powder three times a day with boiled water.

(3) Dipyridamole (Persantin), 5 to 25 mg orally twice a day. The above drugs can be selected as appropriate. They are relatively reliable and have few side effects.

3. Antibiotics may be considered in the following situations: antiviral drugs cannot reduce fever; to prevent secondary bacterial infection in infants under 6 months old; blood tests show a significant increase in the white blood cell count; frequent tonsillitis; bronchitis or pneumonia.

4. Regardless of the type of medication you use, you should pay attention to the following issues:

(1) The dosage should not be too large and the duration of use should not be too long.

(2) Drink plenty of water while taking the medicine to facilitate the absorption and excretion of the medicine and reduce the toxicity of the medicine to the child's body.

(3) Children under 3 years old, whose liver and kidneys are not yet fully developed, should not take paracetamol orally or by injection.

(4) Children or their family members who have a history of allergy to antipyretics should not use antipyretics.

(5) Do not take antipyretics at the same time as alkaline drugs, such as baking soda, aminophylline, etc., otherwise the antipyretic effect will be reduced.

5. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that colds are caused by wind evil, which is divided into two categories: wind-cold colds and wind-heat colds. Treatment based on syndrome differentiation is effective. You can choose antelope cold tablets, mulberry chrysanthemum cold tablets, etc. under the guidance of a doctor.

There are indeed many anti-inflammatory drugs for children's colds. Some parents must be cautious when buying medicines for their children. Sometimes the side effects of the medicines on children are still very large. Once a child catches a cold, he or she must seek medical attention in time to determine what caused the child's cold. Only by carefully choosing anti-inflammatory drugs can the child's cold be cured faster.
